Photonic Crystal Fiber

Optik & Photonik, 2010
AbstractReducing the complexity of opticalsystems emphasizes the need to increase the number of optical functions in as few modules as possible, making the system more compact and simple to operate. Optical functions such as light generation, frequency conversion, amplification, broadband transmission, wavelength filtering and interfacing to the ...

Topological Photonic Crystal Fiber

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2022
Despite recent progress in topological photonics, a challenge remains to realise topological states in a scalable platform. Here we fabricate optical fiber characterized by a topological invariant and demonstrate protected supermode propagation over 106 wavelengths.

Photonic crystal fibers

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
A brief review of three specially designed types of photonic crystal fiber (PCF) that we recently developed for high performance devices is presented. The first is absolutely single polarization PCF (ASPF), which guides only one polarization mode, the second is dispersion-flattened polarization maintaining PCF for Supercontinuum generation, and the ...

Elliptical-hole photonic crystal fibers

Optics Letters, 2001
We study the dispersive properties of photonic crystal fibers (PCF's) with elliptical air holes. The unusual guidance of PCF leads to novel behavior of the birefringence, group-velocity walk-off, and dispersion parameters, including the possibility of zero walk-off with high birefringence in the single-mode regime. A number of these effects are closely

Diffractive photonic crystal fiber

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
In the present report we propose an innovative concept for effective diffractive wave guiding of optical (infrared, visible and X-rays) beams based on the effect of diffractive multifocal focusing of radiation (DMFR). The optical DMFR effect, predicted earlier by theory, on a bicomponent diffraction system, has recently been confirmed experimentally ...

Silicon Photonic Crystal Fiber

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics/International Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009
A hollow-core photonic crystal fiber (PCF) made of silicon is reported for the first time. The fiber is obtained by converting silica fiber to porous silicon using magnesiothermic reduction.

Photonic Crystal Fiber IFOGs

Optical Fiber Sensors, 2006
We have built and tested an interferometric fiber-optic gyroscope made with photonic crystal fiber. This paper reports the test results and examines the advantages of photonic crystal fiber for this type of gyroscope.

Photonic Crystal Fibers challenge

Proceedings of the International Conference on Computer Systems and Technologies and Workshop for PhD Students in Computing, 2009
The paper describes some kinds of Photonic Crystal Fibers and their features. The problems of attenuation of the PCF in connection with their properties and design are discussed. An analytical method for calculating the attenuation and dispersion of the spreading modes of Bragg fibers, represented as a multilayer dielectric structure, is proposed.

Infrared photonic crystal fiber

Applied Physics Letters, 2003
An infrared photonic crystal fiber has been made by multiple extrusions of silver halide (AgClxBr1−x) crystalline materials. The core of the fiber consisted of pure AgBr, and the cladding area included fiberoptic elements made of AgCl (with lower refractive index).

Modeling of photonic crystal fibers

2007 19th International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications, 2007
This paper presents an analysis and an overview of characteristics and possible applications of periodic and quasi-periodic photonic crystal fibers (PCF). The analysis is based on the decomposition of the transverse electric field into a series of orthogonal modes which are used to solve the vector wave equation for optical fibers.
