Sensing with photonic crystal fibers
SPIE Proceedings, 2005Photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) have special wave-guiding properties that cannot be achieved in conventional optical fibers. The properties of PCFs can be controlled via the geometry of their microstructured cladding. This opens up new opportunities for numerous applications in the areas of light transmission, nonlinear optics, fiber-optic components ...

Photonic Crystal Fibers challenge
Proceedings of the International Conference on Computer Systems and Technologies and Workshop for PhD Students in Computing, 2009The paper describes some kinds of Photonic Crystal Fibers and their features. The problems of attenuation of the PCF in connection with their properties and design are discussed. An analytical method for calculating the attenuation and dispersion of the spreading modes of Bragg fibers, represented as a multilayer dielectric structure, is proposed.

Silicon Photonic Crystal Fiber
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics/International Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009A hollow-core photonic crystal fiber (PCF) made of silicon is reported for the first time. The fiber is obtained by converting silica fiber to porous silicon using magnesiothermic reduction.

Photochemistry in photonic crystal fibers
CLEO/Europe - EQEC 2009 - European Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and the European Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009Photonic crystal fiber (PCF) has proven very useful for enhancing light-matter interactions, offering interaction lengths much longer than those available using conventional techniques. A well-defined optical mode propagating through a microfluidic channel or gas cell offers a unique way of carrying out absorption spectroscopy in very small sample ...

Infrared photonic crystal fiber
Applied Physics Letters, 2003An infrared photonic crystal fiber has been made by multiple extrusions of silver halide (AgClxBr1−x) crystalline materials. The core of the fiber consisted of pure AgBr, and the cladding area included fiberoptic elements made of AgCl (with lower refractive index).

Photonic crystal fiber devices
SPIE Proceedings, 2003Photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) have been receiving increasing attention over the past few years. They are single material fibers that use an array of air holes in the cladding to confine light to a core, instead of the more usual refractive index step within the solid material of a conventional fiber.

Photonic crystal in-fiber devices
Optical Engineering, 2005We present the construction of photonic crystal in-fiber devices. The presented devices include modulators and spectral filters. The manufacturing process related to the fabrication of these devices includes two building stones. The first one is the insertion of microwires into one of the capillaries of the photonic crystal fiber and the second one is ...

Photonic Crystal Optical Fibers
2009Chapter 7 gives an idea of computation of principal characteristics of the photonic crystal fibers (PCF). Similarities and distinctions between PCF and conventional optical fibers are considered. The first part of the chapter deals with theoretical relations and characteristics of conventional fibers.

A Review on Photonic Crystal Fibers
2019This paper summarizes about the photonic crystal fiber (PCF) and its applications. PCF is also termed as a micro-structured and holey fiber. PCF is better than an optical fiber due to its high flexibility in design and high nonlinearity. PCF is basically an optical fiber with a low regular arrangement refractive index material in the background, with a
