The Rise of Graphene Photonic Crystal Fibers

Advanced Functional Materials, 2022
2D graphene with tremendous novel properties is an ideal material for optical and optoelectronic applications. Meanwhile, photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) have been recognized as next‐generation optical fibers that possess a designable porous structure ...

Mechanochromic photonic-crystal fibers based on continuous sheets of aligned carbon nanotubes.

Angewandte Chemie - International Edition, 2015
A new family of mechanochromic photonic-crystal fibers exhibits tunable structural colors under stretching. This novel mechanochromic fiber is prepared by depositing polymer microspheres onto a continuous aligned-carbon-nanotube sheet that has been wound

Highly birefringent photonic crystal fibers.

Optics and Photonics News, 2000
We report a strongly anisotropic photonic crystal fiber. Twofold rotational symmetry was introduced into a single-mode fiber structure by creation of a regular array of airholes of two sizes disposed about a pure-silica core. Based on spectral measurements of the polarization mode beating, we estimate that the fiber has a beat length of approximately 0.

Elliptical-hole photonic crystal fibers

Optics Letters, 2001
We study the dispersive properties of photonic crystal fibers (PCF's) with elliptical air holes. The unusual guidance of PCF leads to novel behavior of the birefringence, group-velocity walk-off, and dispersion parameters, including the possibility of zero walk-off with high birefringence in the single-mode regime. A number of these effects are closely

Overview of refractive index sensors comprising photonic crystal fibers based on the surface plasmon resonance effect [Invited]

Chinese Optics Letters (COL), 2021
Optical fibers have been widely applied to telecommunication, imaging, lasers, and sensing. Among the different types of fibers, photonic crystal fibers (PCFs), also called microstructured optical fibers, characterized by air holes arranged along the ...

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) infrared sensor based on D-shape photonic crystal fibers with ITO coatings

, 2020
A novel surface plasmon resonance sensor (SPR) based on D-shaped photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is designed for sensing low refractive indexes, and its performance is investigated numerically by the finite element method (FEM).

Advances in Photonic Crystal Fiber-Based Sensor for Detection of Physical and Biochemical Parameters—A Review

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2023
The promising properties of photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) have sparked the interest of a number of research organizations. Due to the PCF’s air holes, liquid or gas samples can be inserted into them.
