Time-correlated photons from an In_{0.5}Ga_{0.5}P photonic crystal cavity on a silicon chip

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2022
Time-correlated photon pairs are generated by triply resonant four-wave-mixing in an In_{0.5}Ga_{0.5}P photonic crystal cavity. Maximal efficiency is reached by actively compensating for the residual spectral misalignment of the cavity modes.

Electroactive Liquid Crystal Elastomers as Soft Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electroactive liquid crystal elastomers (eLCEs) can be actuated via electromechanical, electrochemical, or electrothermal effects. a) Electromechanical effects include Maxwell stress, electrostriction, and the electroclinic effect. b) Electrochemical effects arise from electrode redox reactions.

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Neuromorphic Photonic Integrated Circuits

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, 2018
This paper reviews some recent progress in the field of neuromorphic photonics, with a particular focus on scalability. We provide a framework for understanding the underlying models, and demonstrate a neuron-like processing device—an excitable laser—that has many favorable properties for integration with emerging photonic integrated circuit platforms.

Spatiotemporal Plasma–Mediated Laser Fabrication of Ultrahigh‐Aspect‐Ratio Nanochannel Arrays for Vertical Perovskite Nanowire Semiconductor Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A spatiotemporal plasma–mediated laser processing approach is developed to fabricate ultrahigh–aspect ratio nanochannel arrays and corresponding perovskite nanowire arrays within transparent materials for optoelectronics devices. The laser‐fabricated nanochannels serve as templates for controlled perovskite infiltration and crystallization, enabling ...

Synchronized Electro‐Chromo‐Emissive Devices Using a Mixed Ionic‐Electronic Conductive Layer for XR Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A single cell type Electro‐chromo‐emissive (ECECL) device integrating synchronized electrochromic (EC) and electrochemiluminescent (ECL) functions is developed using a mixed ionic‐electronic conductor (MIEC). A MIEC layer reduces ionic/electronic resistance, enabling ultrafast switching and enhanced optical contrast.

Optomechanical coupling in photonic crystal supported nanomechanical waveguides

open access: yes, 2009
We report enhanced optomechanical coupling by embedding a nano-mechanical beam resonator within an optical race-track resonator. Precise control of the mechanical resonator is achieved by clamping the beam between two low-loss photonic crystal waveguide ...
