This work elucidates the previously unknown thermal dynamics during sub‐micrometer photothermal laser printing of zinc oxide using a non‐invasive transmission‐based in situ measurement. The elevated temperatures are shown to be highly localized around the laser focal spot, reaching average temperature increases of about 113 K per mW of laser power ...

Liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) filaments are fabricated through extrusion with in‐process UV curing, enabling controlled flow alignment and network locking of mesogens. The resulting structure responds to thermal or optical stimuli, inducing molecular reorientation and macroscopic contraction.

Programmable van der Waals Heterojunction for Multifunctional Integration
A MoS2/MAPbBr3 van der Waals heterostructure is programmed by gate bias to switch among photodetector, synaptic transistor, and gate‐bias‐assisted optical‐memory modes. Gate‐controlled carrier trapping tunes the response timescale, enabling mode reconfiguration in a single device.

Convergent‐beam X‐ray crystallography
Molecular crystal diffraction with a highly focused X‐ray beam decouples crystal morphology and molecular structure by measuring magnified topographs from every reflection.Molecular and polymeric crystals show a wide range of functional properties that arise from the interplay between the atomic‐scale structure of their constituent molecules and the ...

Abstract The intensification of wildland fires across portions of Canada in early June 2023 led to significant smoke transport into the eastern United States, resulting in poor air quality and reduced visibility. Significant degradation of air quality was evident from PM2.5 surface measurements as the smoke plume moved southwards, which was confirmed ...

Interfacial Role of Dopant d‐States on Hot Carrier Generation in Bimetallic Nanoparticles
Plasmonic heterostructures enhance hot carrier generation and spatial separation by deliberate doping with selected transition metal atoms. By deterministically structuring the spatial distribution of a set number of dopants, their d‐states can be engineered to result in tailored hot carrier energy distributions in selected spatial locations while ...
