Effects of Photoperiod and Temperature on Energy Budgets and Endocrine Hormones Concentrations in Tupaia belangeri [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stress Physiology & Biochemistry, 2014
Environmental cues play important roles in the regulation of an animal’s physiology and behavior. In the present study, we performed a factorial experiment (temperature/photoperiod) in which Tupaia belangeri was acclimated to different photoperiods (long

A functional nexus between photoperiod acclimation, torpor expression and somatic fatty acid composition in a heterothermic mammal. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The seasonal changes in thermal physiology and torpor expression of many heterothermic mammals are controlled by photoperiod. As function at low body temperatures during torpor requires changes of tissue lipid composition, we tested for the first time ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Functional Materials for Environmental Energy Harvesting in Smart Agriculture via Triboelectric Nanogenerators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores functional and responsive materials for triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) in sustainable smart agriculture. It examines how particulate contamination and dirt affect charge transfer and efficiency. Environmental challenges and strategies to enhance durability and responsiveness are outlined, including active functional layers ...

Can Growing Degree Days and Photoperiod Predict Spring Wheat Phenology?

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2017
Wheat (Triticum aestivum) production in the rainfed area of Pothwar Pakistan is extremely vulnerable to high temperature. The expected increase in temperature due to global warming should result in shorter crop life cycles, and thus lower biomass and ...

Biocatalytic Nanoregulators Restore Joint Redox‐Immune Homeostasis in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stem cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) coat ruthenium‐loaded metal‐organic frameworks (Ru@ZrMOF), creating a targeted therapeutic (Ru@ZrMOF/EVs). This platform scavenges ROS, generates oxygen, and polarizes macrophages from M1 to M2, alleviating inflammation, inhibiting pannus, promoting cartilage repair, and downregulating HIF‐1α ...

Dawn and photoperiod sensing by phytochrome A

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2018
Significance The changing seasons subject plants to a variety of challenging environments. To deal with this, many plants have mechanisms for inferring the season by measuring the duration of daylight in a day.

BioCNTs Mediated Delivery of Systemically Mobile Small RNAs via Leaf Spray to Control Both Tomato DNA and RNA Viruses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A carbon nanotube‐based biopesticide system (BioCNTs) enables efficient delivery and systemic movement of RNAi molecules to control major tomato viruses. By integrating shRNA and tRNA‐like structures (TLS) with BioCNTs, this green and scalable approach achieves long‐term silencing and high antiviral efficacy through simple foliar spraying.

A GLUTAMATE CYSTEINE LIGASE Gene StGSH1 Regulated by StERF10 Enhanced Glutathione Accumulation and Adaptation to Low Phosphorus Stress in Potato

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The StERF10‐StGSH1 module coordinates glutathione (GSH) biosynthesis under low‐phosphorus stress. The low‐phosphate‐induced AP2/ERF transcription factor StERF10 directly activates the transcription of StGSH1 and enhances GSH accumulation. Consequently, GSH scavenges reactive oxygen species and provides sulfur for sulfolipid synthesis, facilitating the ...
