New Horizons in Cationic Photopolymerization [PDF]

open access: yesPolymers, 2018
In this review, we report some recent advances and new horizons in UV-induced cationic photopolymerization. In particular, after a brief introduction on the discovery and affirmation of the cationic photopolymerization process, new efforts in the synthesis of cationic photoinitiators are reported.

Photopolymerized Porous Hydrogels

Biomacromolecules, 2021
Hydrogels are polymeric networks highly swollen with water. Because of their versatility and properties mimicking biological tissues, they are very interesting for biomedical applications. In this aim, the control of porosity is of crucial importance since it governs the transport properties and influences the fate of cells cultured onto or into the ...

Photopolymerized Polypyrrole Microvessels

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2011
AbstractWe report on the preparation of water‐filled polymer microvessels through the photopolymerization of pyrrole in a water/chloroform emulsion. The resulting structures were characterized by complementary spectroscopic and microscopic techniques, including Raman spectroscopy, XPS, SEM, and TEM. The encapsulation of fluorescent, magnetic, and ionic

Photopolymerization of carbazolyloxiranes

Polymer International, 1995
AbstractPhotopolymerizations of 1‐allyloxy‐3‐(carbazol‐9‐yl)‐2‐propanol glycidyl ether and 1‐(carbazol‐9‐yl)‐4‐oxa‐2‐pentanol glycidyl ether with diaryliodonium salts in solution and in bulk are reported. These reactions give oligomers of degree of polymerization 4–6. The influence of the functional groups of the monomers on the rate of polymerization,

Photopolymerization in Cholesteric Mesophases

Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 1984
Abstract Cholesteric liquid crystalline monomers undergo efficient photopolymerization to “freeze in” the planar texture characteristic of low molar mass cholesteric liquid crystals. The monomers consist of polymerizable moieties separated from the cholesteryl mesogens by flexible spacer groups.
