Evaluating the Community Land Model in a pine stand with shading manipulations and 13CO2 labeling [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2016
Carbon allocation and flow through ecosystems regulates land surface–atmosphere CO2 exchange and thus is a key, albeit uncertain, component of mechanistic models.

Photoperiodic Regulation of Photosynthate Partitioning in Leaves of Digitaria decumbens Stent [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1985
In leaves of pangolagrass (Digitaria decumbens Stent.), the proportion of photosynthate partitioned into starch adjusts to a change in daylength within 24 hours. After a single 14-hour long day, the relative starch accumulation rate is approximately 50% of that under 7-hour short days.

Plant communities as drivers of soil respiration: pathways, mechanisms, and significance for global change [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2011
Understanding the impacts of plant community characteristics on soil carbon dioxide efflux (<i>R</i>) is a key prerequisite for accurate prediction of the future carbon (C) balance of terrestrial ecosystems under climate change.

Possible role of growth regulators in adaptation to heat stress affecting partitioning of photosynthates in tomato plants

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2014
Tomato plants of two cultivars: Roma - sensitive and Robin - tolerant to heat stress were grown in greenhouse up to the flowering stage and then under controlled environmental conditions.

Light Duration Alters [14C] Photosynthate Partitioning into Sorbitol in Apple [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1996
Sorbitol synthesis in apple leaves requires NADPH, a product of photosynthetic light reactions. Light duration directly affects NADPH production, thus, variation in light duration may influence sorbitol synthesis and alter the ratios of sorbitol to other carbohydrates.

Regulation of Photosynthate Partitioning into Starch in Soybean Leaves [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1990
Studies conducted in controlled environments indicate that daylength affects the proportion of photosynthate stored in leaves as starch or sucrose. To examine the response of partitioning to natural daylight, soybeans (Glycine max [L.] Merr. cv Williams) were grown at 12 different times between May and November in a constant temperature greenhouse ...

Natural Variation of NAR5 Determines Nitrogenase Activity and the Yield in Soybean

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identified NAR5, a gene encoding a subtilisin‐like protease, that regulates nitrogenase activity in soybean nodules. Overexpressing NAR5 delayed nodule senescence, enhancing nitrogenase activity, yield, and low‐nitrogen tolerance. The elite haplotype NAR5HapI‐1 linked to superior nitrogenase activity and greater seed weight has been ...
