Photocatalytic Solar Hydrogen Peroxide Production on Donor+Acceptor Linear Polymer Semiconductor Powders Reconfigurable by H‐Bonding and π‐Stacking Interactions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
A linear polymer, poly(2,3‐dihydroxynaphthalene), when insolubilized, leads to self‐assembly into a hydroquinone–quinone donor+acceptor semiconducting architecture through H‐bonding and π‐stacking interactions. The polymer behaves as a heterogeneous photocatalyst in water for H2O2 production via water oxidation and O2 reduction under visible light.

Electroenzymatic CO2 Fixation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Electroenzymatic CO2 fixation enables energy‐efficient, highly selective synthesis of complex molecules. Unlocking its full potential requires fundamental understanding of electrode‐coupled reductases and carboxylases. This review critically discusses available enzymes, product scope, and key thermodynamic and kinetic considerations, highlighting ...

Significance of mesophyll conductance for photosynthetic capacity and water-use efficiency in response to alkaline stress in Populus cathayana seedlings

open access: yes, 2013
Cuttings of Populus cathayana were exposed to three different alkaline regimes (0, 75, and 150 mM Na2CO3) in a semicontrolled environment. The net photosynthesis rate (P (N)), mesophyll conductance (g (m)), the relative limitations posed by stomatal ...

Centennial-scale atmospheric CO2 rise increased photosynthetic efficiency in a tropical tree species

open access: yes
Tropical forests substantially influence the terrestrial carbon sink. Their contributions to the forest carbon sink may increase due to the stimulation of photosynthesis by rising atmospheric CO2 (Ca); however, the magnitude of this effect is poorly ...

Role of Water in Low‐Temperature CO2 Reduction at Defect‐Rich TiO2

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Our results highlight the potential of reduced titania as a noble metal‐free CO2 activation catalyst and show the activation of CO2 on highly defective TiO2 using in situ synchrotron‐based NAP‐XPS from room temperature to 700 K. The distribution of surface intermediates can be decoded as a simultaneous population of reaction routes, revealing water (OH)

Mechanism of photosynthetic response in Microcystis aeruginosa PCC7806 to low inorganic phosphorus

open access: yes, 2010
Photosynthetic response of Microcystis aeruginosa PCC7806 to different concentrations of phosphorus supply was studied so as to elucidate if the declining process of Microcystis bloom under freshwater ecosystem is related to soluble reactive phosphorus ...

Photosynthetic Efficiency of Drought-Induced Leaves in Neviusia alabamensis

open access: yes, 1991
Plants in one stand of Neviusia alabamensis Gray (Rosaceae), a rare shrub, became drought deciduous in July, 1990, and grew new leaves following rains in August.

Advancements in CO2 Capture Technologies: A Review of Amine Absorption and Alternative Methods for Post‐Combustion Integration

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Carbon capture technologies are poised to become one of the primary focuses regarding the achievement of net‐zero emissions by the year 2050. In these technologies, particular attention is given to post‐combustion CO2 capture, which is more easily implemented at existing power stations and other industries.

Integrating leaf scaled spectra and machine learning for rapid estimation of photosynthetic phenotypes across soybean genotypes

open access: yes
Photosynthesis is central to crop productivity and global carbon dynamics, yet traditional methods for evaluating photosynthetic capacity are slow, low-throughput, and difficult to scale.
