To the Editor.— The impassioned plea by Hein1 to stamp out the use of phototherapy in healthy, term infants with bilirubin levels less than 20 to 25 mg/dL is premature to say the least. To then remark that malpractice fears per se is the main reason physicians treat jaundice of the newborn is incorrect.
