Antiangiogenesis-Combined Photothermal Therapy in the Second Near-Infrared Window at Laser Powers Below the Skin Tolerance Threshold

open access: yesNano-Micro Letters, 2019
Photothermal agents with strong light absorption in the second near-infrared (NIR-II) region (1000–1350 nm) are strongly desired for successful photothermal therapy (PTT).

An optically activated cantilever using photomechanical effects in dye-doped polymer fibers

open access: yes, 2005
We report on what we believe is the first demonstration of an optically activated cantilever due to photomechanical effects in a dye-doped polymer optical fiber. The fiber is observed to bend when light is launched off-axis.

Biomimetic Ion‐Orchestrated Hierarchical Armored Hydrogel Coating for Robust and Multifunctional Surface Protection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by the skin‐toughening mechanism of marine sponges, an ion‐orchestrated structural engineering strategy is proposed to regulate the surface microstructure of hydrogel coatings, enabling the in situ formation of a robust armor layer that enhances mechanical integrity and provides multifunctional protection by suppressing fouling attachment and ...

Large-effect flowering time mutations reveal conditionally adaptive paths through fitness landscapes in Arabidopsis thaliana. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Contrary to previous assumptions that most mutations are deleterious, there is increasing evidence for persistence of large-effect mutations in natural populations.

Electron and Phonon Thermal Waves in Semiconductors: an Application to Photothermal Effects

open access: yes, 1996
The electron and phonon temperature distribution function are calculated in semiconductors. We solved the coupled one-dimensional heat-diffussion equations in the linear approximation in which the physical parameters on the sample are independent of the ...

Enhancing Electrocatalytic Water Splitting Activities via Photothermal Effect over Bifunctional Nickel/Reduced Graphene Oxide Nanosheets

open access: yesACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering, 2019
Electrocatalytic water splitting has huge potential for generating hydrogen fuel. Its wide application suffers from high energy loss and sluggish reaction kinetics. The adoption of appropriate electrocatalysts is capable of reducing the overpotential and

Broadband, Flexible, Skin‐Compatible Carbon Dots/Graphene Photodetectors for Wearable Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Broadband, flexible photodetectors integrating nitrogen‐rich carbon dots with single‐layer graphene on plastic substrates are demonstrated. A biocompatible chitosan–glycerol electrolyte enables efficient low‐voltage gating and on‐skin operation. The devices exhibit ultraviolet‐to‐near‐infrared response, mechanical robustness under bending, and verified
