A Photovoltaic Array Simulator

International Journal of Solar Energy, 1982
Abstract A system simulating the output voltage-current characteristics of a photovoltaic array is described. The simulator may be used to test the performance of PV arrays and associated power conditioning equipment necessary for the autonomous or interconnected operation of photovoltaic energy sources. The simulator's main features include simplicity

Photovoltaic array simulation

1985 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference (ESA SP-230), 1985
Two approaches to the simulation of photovoltaic arrays are described and compared. The first involves the use of a pilot panel and variable light source. In the second, characteristic array curves are stored in the memory of a microprocessor-based simulator.

Optimization of Photovoltaic Array Configurations in Photovoltaic System

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Closely related to the actual output power and the light intensity, the temperature of the photovoltaic cell panel and the load of the PV array or the like. In the case of the external environment is stable and load conditions change, the output power of the PV modules exist Maximum Power Point, in order to improve the self-tracking PV system energy ...

Novel modeling approach for photovoltaic arrays

2012 IEEE 55th International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS), 2012
This paper proposes high accuracy modeling approach for photovoltaic (PV) arrays. I–V characteristic of PV cell is described by nonlinear equation that's complicated to be solved by the ordinary mathematical methods. The main theme of this contribution is to use a robust algorithm to solve for all single diode model parameters.

Temperature dependence in modeling photovoltaic arrays

2013 IEEE 20th International Conference on Electronics, Circuits, and Systems (ICECS), 2013
Photovoltaic (PV) array output varies with environmental conditions. In this paper, an improved algorithm is proposed to model PV arrays at temperatures different than the nominal temperature. The proposed model is validated with experimental data of Kyocera KC200GT multi-crystalline silicon solar array.

Pspice Modelling of Photovoltaic Arrays

International Journal of Electrical Engineering & Education, 1995
PSPICE modelling of photovoltaic arrays A detailed model of a photovoltaic array written in PSPICE is presented in this paper. The powerful graphics post-processor that accompanies the software program is used to display array characteristics as a function of certain parameters such as insulation and temperature.

Simulation of large photovoltaic arrays

Solar Energy, 2018
Abstract Large photovoltaic arrays are becoming common as the world moves to replace fossil-fuelled electricity generators. As the array size and project cost increase, it becomes increasingly important to know accurately what the array’s performance will be before it is built.

Fault diagnosis in photovoltaic arrays

2015 International Conference on Clean Electrical Power (ICCEP), 2015
This paper proposes a simple automatic technique for fault diagnosis in photovoltaic (PV) arrays, based on the analysis of the an omalies observed in the I-V characteristic. Firstly, the I-V characteristic of the PV array is simulated using Matlab/Simscape tool for different faulty conditions; which is experimentally validated by generating different ...

Wire Array Photovoltaics

2013
Over the past five years, the cost of solar panels has dropped drastically and, in concert, the number of installed modules has risen exponentially. However, solar electricity is still more than twice as expensive as electricity from a natural gas plant. Fortunately, wire array solar cells have emerged as a promising technology for further lowering the

Performance prediction of photovoltaic arrays

2017 52nd International Universities Power Engineering Conference (UPEC), 2017
The most important investment decision when it comes to implementing photovoltaic (PV) array(s) either for commercial or private application, is the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) calculation. Whereas LCOE, used as an assessment tool, to calculate the cost effectiveness of energy generation in relation to the return over investment in a prescribed ...
