Experimental evaluation of a hybrid evaporative and groundwater cooling system for enhancing photovoltaic efficiency in arid climates

open access: yesScientific Reports
Photovoltaic panels are considered a vital sustainable source of electrical energy; however, their efficiency tends to decline as a result of increasing temperature.

Understanding the Interplay Between Thermal Activation, Diffusion, and Phase Segregation of Molecular Dopants Blended with Polymeric Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The use of air stable but thermally labile molecules provides an efficient strategy for the N‐type doping of organic semiconductors with relatively low electron affinities. Design criteria for efficient dopants should also take into account diffusion and phase segregation that cannot be decoupled from thermally activated doping.

Advancing Energy Materials by In Situ Atomic Scale Methods

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 15, Issue 11, March 18, 2025.
Progress in in situ atomic scale methods leads to an improved understanding of new and advanced energy materials, where a local understanding of complex, inhomogeneous systems or interfaces down to the atomic scale and quantum level is required. Topics from photovoltaics, dissipation losses, phase transitions, and chemical energy conversion are ...

Decoding Interfacial Charge‐Carrier Dynamics in Integrated Perovskite/Organic Solar Cells via Numerical Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A physical framework is developed based on drift‐diffusion simulations to elucidate the operation of integrated perovskite/organic solar cells (I‐POSCs) through the lens of interfacial charge‐carrier dynamics. A stepwise analysis establishes key links between carrier transport/recombination phenomena and device performance metrics, offering valuable ...

Mechanical Glass‐Backsheet Photovoltaic Modules Delamination: Toward Materials Recycling

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
A new technology based on sanding has been developed to collect most of the materials contained in a photovoltaic (PV) module in the form of powders. A pilot line is now operational. This technology is specifically suited for Glass//Backsheet PV panels, which represent today the vast majority of the end of life PV panels.

CASE STUDY REGARDING THE REALIZATION OF A SOLAR PARK IN MIERSIG, BIHOR, ROUMANIA

open access: yesNonconventional Technologies Review, 2015
The study will result in a range of benefits at both financial and economic to the community concerned, using electricity from renewable sources, photovoltaic panels being directly connected to the grid via transformers so without energy storage, but ...

Optical modelling for photovoltaic panels

open access: yes, 2013
A novel approach to predict the performance of anti-reflective glasses on PV panel is presented in this thesis. Anti-reflective glass, such as deeply textured and thin film coated glass, has shown to increase the annual energy production relative to plain glass cover by 2-5%.

Eco‐Efficient Processing and Refining Routes for Secondary Raw Materials from Silicon Ingot and Wafer Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
The ICARUS project developed pilot‐scale processes to recover and refine secondary raw materials from silicon photovoltaic (PV) ingot and wafer manufacturing waste. Silicon kerf, graphite, and silica residues are purified into high‐value inputs for the PV value chain and beyond.
