Synchrony strategies of six gall inducers that share a superhost, Eugenia copacabanensis (Myrtaceae)

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 28, Issue 1, Page 225-239, January 2026.
Galling insects on the superhost Eugenia copacabanensis have developed different life cycle strategies to synchronize with plant seasonal changes and avoid competition for resources. Abstract The life cycles of galling insects are synchronized with their host plant phenology, allowing them to better explore available resources.

ENSO's Impacts on Southeastern Australia's Future Rainfall Risk

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 24, 28 December 2025.
Abstract The El Niño‐Southern Oscillation (ENSO) importantly influences Australian rainfall variability. In southeastern Australia, La Niña is observed to cause a larger risk of high rainfall than El Niño does for low rainfall, demonstrating a non‐linear ENSO‐rainfall relationship.

Compound Drivers of Rising Ozone Extremes in the North China Plain (2013–2023): Aerosol Decline, Hot Droughts, Afforestation‐Driven BVOCs, and Reduced Vegetation Uptake

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 130, Issue 24, 28 December 2025.
Abstract Over the past decade (2013–2023), PM2.5 levels in eastern China have dropped by ∼70% due to air pollution controls, yet ground‐level ozone (O3) has risen by 1–3 ppbv/yr, especially in the North China Plain (NCP). Persistent O3 extremes, with daily maximum 8‐hr average (MDA8) of 100–150 ppbv, have become more frequent.

Switchable Intersystem Crossing (sISC) in Organic Dyes: Unlocking Dynamic Photonic Properties

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, Volume 9, Issue 12, December 13, 2025.
This Concept article introduces switchable intersystem crossing (sISC) as an emerging design strategy for functional dyes capable of reversibly modulating fluorescence and triplet state formation in response to environmental stimuli. Key design approaches and underlying mechanisms are discussed, alongside representative examples of sISC dyes and their ...

Wireless, 3D Optical Sensor Fabricated Using Mechanical Buckling for Navigation and Agriculture Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 23, December 3, 2025.
This study develops a 3D optical sensor formed by mechanical buckling and equipped with wireless communication for navigation. Off‐the‐shelf electronic components are assembled onto a flexible circuit board, followed by mechanical strain‐guiding, facilitating the integration of an out‐of‐plane sensing configuration with a signal processing module. This
