Abstract This chapter provides an overview of Phrygian history and its sources. It discusses the origins and language of the Phrygians and introduces the available text corpus. A section on Phrygia’s interaction with other peoples is followed by a more detailed look at two Phrygian cities, the capital Gordion and Kerkenes Dağ.
