Molecular Systematics of Goniodidae (Insecta: Phthiraptera)

The higher level phylogenetic relationships within the avian feather lice (Insecta: Phthiraptera: Ischnocera) are extremely problematic. Here we investigate the relationships of 1 family (Goniodidae), sometimes recognized as distinct within Ischnocera, using parsimony and likelihood analyses of nuclear and mitochondrial DNA sequences.

G. 1,5—6, s kleiner od. bis 11 mm; schmal lggestreckt (Abb. 159/4,6) bis breitoval (Abb. 159/2); sekundar flugellos; vorherrschend braunlich, aber auch weislich (dann z. T. mit ± dunkel gefarbten Skleriten) uber aschgrau bis fast schwarz (K, bes. Mundteile, ferner B, bes. Klauen oft sehr stark pigmentiert), ♂ meist kleiner als ♀, L stets weislich.
