Syntopy of cryptic Phyllomys (Rodentia: Echimyidae) species: description of the karyotype of Phyllomys nigrispinus and an expansion of the geographic distribution of Phyllomys sulinus

Mammalia, 2017
Abstract The echimyid rodents of the genus Phyllomys are medium-sized arboreal spiny rats endemic to the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. The genus is currently composed of 13 species, although there are at least four other undescribed species. The ecology, zoogeography and diversity of the genus are still poorly understood.

Unveiling the identity of Kerr's Atlantic tree rat, Phyllomys kerri (Rodentia, Echimyidae)

Mammalian Biology, 2018
Arboreal spiny rats of the genus Phyllomys are the most diverse group of echimyid rodents in the Atlantic Forest. Many species of Phyllomys have small geographic ranges and are rare in scientific collections. One of them is Phyllomys kerri known from only three specimens collected in a single locality almost 80 year s ago.

New karyotypes of Atlantic tree rats, genus Phyllomys (Rodentia: Echimyidae).

Genome, 2014
Phyllomys (Echimyidae, Rodentia) is a genus of Neotropical rodents with available cytogenetic data restricted to six out of 13 species, mainly based on simple staining methods, without detailed analyses. In this work, we present new karyotypes for Phyllomys lamarum (diploid number 2n = 56, fundamental number or number of autosomal arms FN = 102) and ...

Overlooked diversity in Argentine caviomorph rodents: the need to increase field efforts

Mammalia (Paris), 2020
Based on a variety of evidence (photographs, feces, specimens), three previously unsuspected caviomorph rodents are reported from Argentina: (1) a spiny rat (Echimyidae) probably belonging to the genus Phyllomys, in northern Misiones Province near Iguazú
