A transposition-active Phyllostachys edulis long terminal repeat (LTR) retrotransposon
Journal of Plant Research, 2017Due to infrequent sexual reproduction, moso bamboo breeding by hybridization is extremely technically difficult. Insertional mutagenesis based on endogenous active transposons may thus serve as an alternative method to create new germplasm of moso bamboo.

Ultrastructure of parenchyma cell wall in bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) culms
Cellulose, 2020Parenchyma cell wall structure plays a crucial role in the growth and the mechanical properties of bamboo plants, with the secondary cell wall providing strength and rigidity. However, little is known about the ultrastructure of the parenchyma cell wall.

The culm color patterns in moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis)
2023Generally, moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) has three types of color patterns at the internodes of clums. P. edulis f. luteosulcata (YM) has green slot & yellow wall at internode, but P. edulis f. viridisulcata (GM) have an adverse phenotype with green wall & yellow slot. The protype of moso bamboo (P. edulis f.

Characterization of hemicelluloses in Phyllostachys edulis (moso bamboo) culm during xylogenesis
Carbohydrate Polymers, 2019Hemicelluloses are β-(1→4)-linked backbone polysaccharides found in plant cell walls that include xyloglucans, xylans, mannans and glucomannans, and play important roles in plant tissue configuration. In this study, hemicelluloses were isolated from the apical, middle and basal segments of 6 m Phyllostachys edulis culm using KOH and DMSO extraction ...

Changes in foliar nitrogen resorption of Phyllostachys edulis with culm development
Journal of Forestry Research, 2018Leaf nitrogen resorption is very important to Phyllostachys edulis development because the withdrawn nitrogen can help newly emerging and growing culms. However, few studies have focused on the ontogenetic changes in leaf nitrogen resorption of P. edulis. Here, we examined the variability in mature leaf nitrogen concentrations (Nm), nitrogen resorption

[Chemical Constituents from Shoot of Phyllostachys edulis (II)].
Zhong yao cai = Zhongyaocai = Journal of Chinese medicinal materials, 2016To investigate the chemical constituents from the shoot of Phyllostachys edulis.Normal-phase, reversed-phase silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 porous polymer gel column and HPLC chromatography were used for isolation. Spectroscopic methods (13C-NMR, 1H-NMR, DEPT and EI-MS) were used for identification.Eleven compounds were isolated and elucidated, which were ...

Planta, 2020
This study demonstrates that brassinosteroid is essential for seedling and shoot growth in moso bamboo. The shoot of moso bamboo is known to grow extremely fast. The roles of phytohormones in such fast growth of bamboo shoot remain unclear. Here we reported that endogenous brassinosteroid (BR) is a major factor promoting bamboo shoot internode ...

Factors affecting soil organic carbon in a Phyllostachys edulis forest
Journal of Forestry Research, 2018Phyllostachys edulis plays an important role in maintaining carbon cycling. We examined the effects of soil properties on organic carbon content in a P. edulis forest on Dagang Mountain, Jiangxi Province, China. Based on correlation and stepwise multiple regression analyses, the effects of seven soil factors on organic carbon and their sensitivities to

The development of Phyllostachys edulis seedlings internodes
Compared with the bamboo of bamboo, bamboo seedling is short, through seed germination, the growth amount is large, easy to manage in the laboratory, and is often used as a verification for the study of bamboo growth height. However, at present, the growth model of bamboo seedling between nodes has not been established, which brings great limitations ...openaire +1 more source
