Effect of internal fractures on mechanical properties and failure of sandstone under multi-physical fields

open access: yesHeliyon
Under deep mining conditions, rocks are subjected to complex multi-physical fields and can contain numerous pores and fractures. To explore the influence and correlation of these factors on the physical and mechanical properties of fractured rock samples,

Physical and Mechanical Properties of Glued Laminated Bamboo

open access: yesBioResources, 2023
Certain bamboo species have mechanical properties that are compatible with construction material. Despite this, their low shear strength, the presence of nodes in their culms, and their circular geometry inhibit the expansion of the use of this material ...

Additives for Roads [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Jassy: Constructions, Architechture Section, 2008
The results of laboratory tests for two additives: ADIROL ALCAMID F and ADIROL ALCAMID FS are presented. Three mixtures were made in laboratory, with two types of bitumen of four dosages each, in order to assess characteristic physical and mechanical ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

The effect of thermal treatment on physical and mechanical properties of luehea divaricata hardwood

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2014
This study aimed to characterise the effect of thermal treatment on physical and mechanical properties of açoita-cavalo (Luehea divaricata) wood. To achieve this, samples were treated at 160, 180 and 200°C for 2 h in an oven (dry conditions).

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Influence of partial replacement of cement by biomass ashes on cement-wood composites properties

open access: yesDyna
The aim of this work was to evaluate the physical and mechanical properties of cement-wood composites with the addition of biomass ashes at different levels (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25%). The composites were produced using Portland cement CPII, Eucalyptus

Nanofibrillated cellulose as paper additive in Eucalyptus pulps [PDF]

open access: yesBioResources, 2012
In this work, the physical and mechanical properties of bleached Eucalyptus pulp reinforced with nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) are compared with those of traditional beaten pulp used in the making of writing/printing and offset printing papers.

The stone in a monumental masonry building of the Tyrrhenian coast (Italy): new data on the relationship between stone properties and structural analysis

open access: yesGe-conservación, 2017
In order to assess physical-mechanical properties of building material (“Fuscaldo sandstone”), non-destructive tests have been performed in the main façade of “Palazzo Carelli - Pignatelli” (14th-15th centuries) in Fiumefreddo Bruzio (Italy), situated in
