Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Management zones based on corn yield and soil physical attributes
The need to increase the yield and thus the income of farmers and provide food for the growing population requires the search for more efficient and innovative ways for growing, such as management by zones or site-specific practices.

Physical-social attributes integrated Sybil detection for Tor bridge distribution
As one of the most widely utilized censorship circumvention systems, Tor faces serious Sybil attacks in bridge distribution.Censors with rich network and human resources usually deploy a large number of Sybils, which disguise themselves as normal nodes ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
