On Endogenous Growth with Physical and Human Capital
Journal of Political Economy, 1993This paper presents a class of models in which agents may devote part of their nonleisure activities to going to school so as to increase the efficiency units of labor they supply to the firms and the wages they receive. The interaction among the technology of human capital accumulation and agents' preferences will determine endogenously the economy's ...

The inconsistency of Physics (with a capital āPā)
Synthese, 2014This paper discusses a conception of physics as a collection of theories that, from a logical point of view, is inconsistent. It is argued that this logical conception of the relations between physical theories is too crude. Mathematical subtleties allow for a much more nuanced and sophisticated understanding of the relations between different physical

How physics works: scientific capital in the space of physics institutions
Scientometrics, 2016This paper investigates the social space of physics research institutions. Scientific capital is a well-known concept for measuring and assessing the accumulated recognition and the specific scientific power developed by Pierre Bourdieu. Physical capital, human capital and the distribution of earnings
Economics of Education Review, 1984The relationship between physical capital, human capital and the distribution of earnings is examined empirically using cross-sectional microdata within SMSAs. Comparative advantage in workers and a scale-of-resources effect among firms is predicted to lead to a relationship between capital and earnings.

The Early Debate On Financial And Physical Capital
Accounting Historians Journal, 1983Abstract The concept of capital is central to the determination of periodic income, irrespective of whether the latter is based on the principles of economics or accounting. Social Capital and Physical Health
2008In this chapter, we describe the key findings from a systematic review of empirical studies linking social capital to physical health outcomes. As noted in the Introduction, as well as the chapters by van der Gaag and Webber (chapter 2), and Lakon and colleagues (chapter 4), much of the public health literature has focused on the health effects of ...

Economic development with accumulation of physical capital and human capital
International Journal of Systems Science, 1993Abstract The purpose of this study is to develop an economic growth model to explain dynamic interactions among physical capital accumulation, population adjustment, and human capital improvement. We assume that human capital can be increased by education and learning by doing. Population growth may be affected by knowledge and economic conditions.

Physical Capital in Dual Economies
2015In this chapter, we shift attention to industrialization and economic growth in dual economies. We focus again on the consequence of missing land markets , a common characteristic of developing economies that was documented in the previous chapter. Here, we examine the connections between land ownership, saving, and physical capital formation.

Physical Activity: An Underestimated Investment in Human Capital?
Journal of Physical Activity and Health, 2013Despite the fact that physical activity is universally acknowledged to be an important part of healthy functioning and well-being, the full scope of its value is rarely appreciated. This article introduces a novel framework for understanding the relationships between physical activity (and specifically sport-related forms of physical activity) and ...
