On characterizing the physical
Philosophical Studies, 2006In previous work (Wilson forthcoming), I have endorsed an account of the physical according to which an entity is physical just in case it is (approximately accurately) treated by current or future (in the limit of inquiry, ideal) physics, and is not fundamentally mental.

Physical Characterization of Pharmaceutical Solids
Pharmaceutical Research, 1991A general review of the methods available for the physical characterization of pharmaceutical solids is presented. The techniques are classified as being on the molecular level (properties capable of being detected in an ensemble of individual molecules), the particulate level (properties which can be detected through the analysis of an ensemble of ...

Physical characterization of serpin conformations
Methods, 2004The native serpin fold is characterized by being metastable. This thermodynamic characteristic is manifested in the conversion of the native state to other more stable conformations. Whilst this structural transition is required for proteinase inhibition and regulation of a range of biological phenomena, inappropriate structural changes can result in a

Physical characterization of Rhizobium meliloti megaplasmids
Plasmid, 1987Intact megaplasmids of Rhizobium meliloti 2011 have been isolated and visualized by electron microscopy. The contour lengths of 64 megaplasmid molecules were determined. One definite class of molecules of 400 micron length and a range of larger molecules with lengths of up to 560 micron was observed.

Physical Internet Characterization
2019 International Colloquium on Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LOGISTIQUA), 2019Over the last years, a new developed paradigm known as Physical Internet (PI) has been appeared, and studied in logistics management. The purpose of this global and open system is to deal with logistics grand challenge by setting up an efficient and sustainable Logistics Web.

Physical Characterization of the Protein Molecule
1970Before any protein can be considered for sequence analysis, there are certain fundamental questions about it that must be answered. These include, in a reasonable order of inquiry: 1. Is the Protein Preparation Pure? There is no sense in expending the time and effort required by sequence analysis on proteins that contain appreciable amounts of ...

Physical characterization of coal
Powder Technology, 1984Abstract On both microscopic and macroscopic scales, coal is a complex heterogeneous material. The organic fraction of coal is composed of microcrystalline and amorphous materials, and exists as small condensed aromatic layers. The packing of layers improves with rank. Coals.

Soil Physical Characterization
20061. INTRODUCTION Amazonian Dark Earths (ADE) normally show plaggic, terric or hortic horizons. These horizons are identified by the dark matrix colors of the top layers, and often by the presence of potsherds, lithic artifacts and charcoal pieces (Sombroek, 1966; Ranzani et al. 1970; Kern and Kampf, 1989).

Physical Characterization of Electrocatalysts
2008In recent years, fuel cells have attracted considerable attention due to their high energy efficiency with zero emissions [1]. Electrocatalysts are some of the key materials used in low-temperature fuel cells such as the polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) and the direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC).

A Mereological Characterization of Physicalism
International Studies in the Philosophy of Science, 2006Physicalism is usually understood as the claim that every empirical entity is or is determined by physical entities. The claim is however imprecise until it is clarified what are the physical entities in question. A sceptical argument in the form of a dilemma tries to show that this problem of formulation of physicalism cannot be adequately met.
