Physical Modeling on the Mold Flow Field Influenced by Nozzle Clogging
2013Based on a real slab caster mold as prototype, a plexiglass model with 1:1 scale was established to investigate the influence of nozzle clogging on the mold flow field. The flow field was displayed by injecting black ink through SEN and the effects of casting speed and nozzle opening-angle on the level fluctuation were investigated while nozzle ...

Transport in Porous Media, 2014
The effects of the hydraulic operating conditions and the concentration of suspended particles (SP) in pore fluid on the filtration and physical clogging of a porous medium were investigated. Polydisperse kaolinite SP was injected into a sand-filled column under two different operating conditions: constant flow rate and constant head.

Abstract A major drawback limiting the use of trickle-bed bioreactors for biological wastewater treatment is ascribed to the concomitant biological clogging and physical plugging phenomena induced, respectively, by the formation of an excessive amount of biomass and the retention of inert suspended fine particles advected in the liquid influent ...

AbstractIn this study, a gradient ratio test which is one of the methods used in the laboratory to evaluate the clogging potential of soil‐synthetic envelope systems was applied. For this purpose, two physical models of permeameters (designed by ASTM D‐5101) were used to carry out a series of permeability tests by applying water with different ...

A review of physical–biochemical clogging in granular filters for groundwater treatment
Environmental GeotechnicsGranular filters play critical role in controlling soil erosion, enhancing drainage efficiency, and improving water quality in groundwater treatment facilities. However, clogging of filters can significantly degrade their performance, leading to their increased maintenance and reduced lifespan.
