Assessment of behavior and physical condition of shelter cats as animal-based indicators of welfare

Journal of Veterinary Behavior, 2015
Surveillance of cat shelters by official veterinarians in Austria is based on legal requirements and does not directly assess cat welfare. The aim of this study was to develop animal-based parameters that are feasible to measure in a surveillance setting, stable over time, and reproducible by different raters.

The Impact of Physical Exercise on the Hippocampus in Physiological Condition and Ageing-Related Decline: Current Evidence from Animal and Human Studies

Current Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, 2022
Abstract:Physical exercise (PE), notoriously, promotes a state of general well-being, throughout the entire human lifespan. Moreover, maintaining an adequate and regular PE habit results in a powerful preventive factor towards many diseases and may also help in managing existing pathological conditions.

Physical quality of pelleted animal feed. 2. contribution of processes and its conditions

Animal Feed Science and Technology, 1997
Abstract The effects of changes in process parameters and their effect on pellet quality in terms of hardness and durability are discussed. The pelleting process in this respect is the combination of conditioning, pelleting and cooling. The parameters discussed with respect to the conditioning process are process variables such as steam and water and

[Effect of psychotropic substances on the physical work capacity of animals under high and low temperature conditions].

Farmakologiia i toksikologiia, 1977
By way of comparison the influence of psychostimulators -- benzedrine, caffein and sydnocarb -- on the physical performance capacity of rats exposed to heat and cold was studied. It was ascertained that psychostimulators are capable of heightening the performance capacity of the animals, viz. benzedrine in cooling -- in a dose of 1 mg/kg; caffein -- in

[Effect of sodium hydroxybutyrate, phenamine, transamine, l-DOPA on the physical work capacity of animals under multiple stress conditions].

Farmakologiia i toksikologiia, 1977
Complete restoration of performance capacity in rats following a preliminary single exertion is shown to occur against the background of action produced both by transamine and its combination with sodium oxybutyrate. After a preliminary 4-fold swimming transamine is effective only in combination with sodium oxybutyrate. With a combined action of sodium
