A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Efficacy and moderators of isometric resistance training (IRT) on resting blood pressure among patients with pre- to established hypertension: a multilevel meta-review and regression analysis

open access: yesBMC Sports Science, Medicine and Rehabilitation
Objective This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of isometric resistance training (IRT) in lowering blood pressure through meta-analyses, specifically systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and mean arterial pressure (MAP), in ...

Comparative Study of the Sprint Start Biomechanics of Men’s 100 m Athletes of Different Levels

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Background: This study sought to investigate the kinematic and kinetic differences in sprint start between high-level and medium-level sprinters. Methods: Twenty male sprinters were dichotomized according to their personal 100 m performance.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Exercise and tissue-resident memory T cells: from circulating numbers to spatial immune remodeling

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Tissue-resident memory T (TRM) cells have become a paradigm shift in the field of immunology and have changed our view of local immune surveillance at barrier surfaces. In contrast to circulating memory T cells, TRM cells are fixed in non-lymphoid organs

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.
