Abstract The auroral‐like sporadic E‐layer is typically observed at altitudes between 100 and 150 km within the South American Magnetic Anomaly region. However, the occurrence of an unusual layer event detected above this altitude range on 18 July 2017 has raised intriguing questions regarding the physical processes responsible for the substantial ...

Quantifying Uncertainty in OMNI Solar Wind Measurements Projected From L1 to the Earth's Bow Shock
Abstract Many routine measurements of the solar wind plasma and interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) are made at the L1 Sun–Earth Lagrange point; therefore, it is helpful to characterize the errors introduced in propagating these measurements to the near‐Earth environment.

Daily Calibration of the Fluxgate Magnetometer Onboard the Cluster Spacecraft
Abstract During their 24 years mission of investigating the Earth's magnetosphere, the four Cluster satellites delivered high quality magnetic field data measured by the onboard fluxgate magnetometers (FGM). To achieve the accuracy required for scientific studies, the raw magnetic field data need to be calibrated on a regular basis.

Coincident ENA and Narrowband Radio Emissions as Diagnostics of Inward Plasma Transport at Saturn
Abstract Saturn's kilometric radiation (SKR) and Energetic Neutral Atom (ENA) emissions are important diagnostics of the planet's magnetospheric dynamics, intensifying during global plasma injections and displaying characteristic planetary periodicity. Related to the SKR emissions are myriametric narrowband radio emissions that typically appear in the ...

Near‐Earth Solar Wind Speed of Fast Coronal Mass Ejections
Abstract Using solar wind and ground magnetometer data for solar cycles 23–25, extreme‐value power‐law models are developed that quantify relationships between near‐Earth solar wind speed and Sun‐to‐Earth transit times of interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs).
