Nuclear physics and cosmology

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2014
There are important aspects of Cosmology, the scientific study of the large scale properties of the universe as a whole, for which nuclear physics can provide insights. Here, we will focus on Standard Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis and we refer to the previous edition of the School [1] for the aspects concerning the variations of constants in nuclear cosmo ...

Physical approach to cosmological homogeneity

Physical Review D, 1985
This paper shows that in general relativity space-time will admit three linearly independent spacelike Killing vectors if the cosmic matter is a perfect fluid with a functional relationship between pressure and density and the spacelike eigenvectors of the shear tensor are parallel transported along the world lines of the fluid.

Astroparticle physics and cosmology

The Lancet, 2006
Astroparticle physics is an interdisciplinary field that explores the connections between the physics of elementary particles and the large-scale properties of the universe. Particle physicists have developed a standard model to describe the properties of matter in the quantum world.

Cosmology and elementary-particle physics

Physics Today, 1979
Over the past decade or so, great progress has been made in two diverse areas of physics—cosmology and elementary-particle physics. In spite of the obvious differences of the two fields (figure 1), each has begun to illuminate the other, making interdisciplinary work involving them not only possible but even exciting.

Cosmological Physics

1998
This textbook provides advanced undergraduate and graduate students with a complete introduction to modern cosmology. It successfully bridges the gap between undergraduate and advanced graduate texts by discussing topics of current research, starting from first principles.
