Estimating the Impact of Physical Climate Risks on Firm Defaults: A Supply-Chain Perspective

open access: yes
In this research, an agent-based model was developed to study the propagation of physical climate shocks through supply chain networks. By combining supply chain and financial models, the study examines the effects of climate shocks on firms’ production capacities and their subsequent impacts on firm default risk. A comprehensive mathematical framework

Data‐Driven Materials Science for Energy‐Sustainable Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Data‐driven approaches powered by artificial intelligence are transforming materials discovery for energy sustainability. This review examines how auto‐generated high‐quality materials databases and domain‐specific language models accelerate research in photovoltaics, thermoelectrics, batteries and magnetic materials. Applications involve extraction of

Availability of Credit and Loan Default: A Look at the Commercial Mortgage Supply Cycle [PDF]

open access: yes
This study uses a structural equation approach to assess the presence of a credit supply effect in the commercial mortgage market and the lenders' ability to incorporate expectations about this effect into their lending policies.

Spatial Control of Light‐Responsive Proteins and Optogenetics Within Hydrogels via Volumetric Bioprinting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Spatiotemporal control over cell behavior within bioprinted constructs remains a key challenge in biofabrication. Volumetric bioprinting using multi‐wavelength light sources permits to activate light‐sensitive intracellular proteins as well as optogenetic gene and protein expression circuits in bioprinted cells, in addition to enabling fast printing of

The Forgotten History of Domestic Debt [PDF]

open access: yes
There is a rich scholarly literature on sovereign default on external debt. Comparatively little is known about sovereign defaults on domestic debt. Even today, cross-country data on domestic public debt remains curiously exotic, particularly prior to ...

Structural and Dynamic Properties of Lipid‐Coated Gold Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Atomistic molecular dynamics simulations reveal how lipid chemistry governs the behavior of coatings on the surface of a gold nanoparticle. Variations in headgroup charge and acyl‐chain saturation produce distinct monolayer‐like lipid organization, ranging from compact, ordered coatings to extended, dynamic shells. These findings establish a foundation

Risk Sharing with the Monarch: Contingent Debt and Excusable Defaults in the Age of Philip II, 1556-1598 [PDF]

open access: yes
Contingent sovereign debt can create important welfare gains. Nonetheless, there is almost no issuance today. Using hand-collected archival data, we examine the first known case of large-scale use of state-contingent sovereign debt in history.

Automated Verification of Higher-Order Masking in Presence of Physical Defaults

open access: yes, 2019
Power and electromagnetic based side-channel attacks are serious threats against the security of cryptographic embedded devices. In order to mitigate these attacks, implementations use countermeasures, among which masking is currently the most investigated and deployed choice.

Flexible Pressure Sensor With Co‐Optimized Sensitivity and Linearity Based on Gradient Toroidal Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A flexible piezoresistive pressure sensor with gradient toroidal CNT/PDMS microstructures is reported. The hierarchical geometry enables sequential electrode contact, achieving a sensitivity of 256.20 kPa−1 and linear response (R2 = 0.99) over 0–1000 kPa.
