Support‐Controlled Reaction Pathways via Dynamic Sulfur‐Mediated Interfaces for Selective Urea Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sulfur‐doped graphitized carbon nanofibers act as adaptive catalyst–support platforms, enabling dynamic sulfur‐mediated reconstruction and strong metal–support interactions. This unique behavior enhances catalyst stability and controls reaction pathways, achieving highly selective urea oxidation (∼92% N2) coupled with efficient hydrogen evolution ...

Optical Signature of Moiré Superlattices Formed by Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We discover optical signatures from bonded interfaces in twisted SrTiO3 moiré superlattices, including low‐frequency Raman vibrational modes and strong second‐harmonic generation, consistent with strong interlayer coupling inferred from cross‐sectional electron microscopy and ab initio calculations. ABSTRACT Moiré superlattices formed at the interfaces

Non‐Monotonic Changes in the Thermal Conductivity of Conjugated Polymer Films with Increasing Levels of Chemical Doping

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal conductivity changes non‐monotonically as regioregular (RR) and regiorandom (RRa) P3HT films are doped with F4TCNQ as a function of the extent to which P3HT is doped: an increase in thermal conductivity is observed upon lightly doping P3HT compared to the undoped film, followed by a decrease in the heavily doped regime. ABSTRACT The performance

Physically Distancing Humans With An App for That: Physically Distancing Management Technologies

2022
As COVID-19 continues to create havoc in everyday lives, the need to limit the spread of the virus remains a challenge, even with advances in medical knowledge and patient care, and the promise of a vaccine. Furthermore, COVID-19 is one in a recent series of airborne diseases, and probably not the last one, given the ongoing encroachment of humans into

Distance constancy: Functional relationships between apparent distance and physical distance

Psychologische Forschung, 1971
Distance constancy was clearly defined with Thouless and Brunswik indexes by examining its previous definitions. The typical functions expressing the relationships between apparent distance and physical distance were derived from; 1. much available data obtained by many researchers, 2. Thouless and Brunswik indexes (formulas), 3.

Salience and Asymmetric Judgments of Physical Distance

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 2011
Previous research has shown that distance estimates made from memory are often asymmetric. Specifically, when A is a prominent location (a landmark) and B is not, people tend to recall a longer distance from A to B than from B to A. Results of two experiments showed that asymmetric judgments of distance are not restricted to judgments made from memory ...

Physics teaching at a distance

European Journal of Physics, 2002
A subject such as physics which relies heavily on practical experiments is a challenge to teach in the form of a distance course. You must make choices as to whether the course includes experiments and if so on what level. With an objective that it is more important to establish concepts than to verify physical laws through precise measurements, it is ...
