Salmonella enterica serovar typhi limits the potency of typhoid toxin and ADP‐ribosylating toxin AB to establish a persistent infection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The two catalytic subunits of typhoid toxin dissociate from the holotoxin in the ER of an intoxicated cell, but only CdtB exits the ER to generate immunosuppressive effects. PltA is retained in the ER and sequestered from its cytosolic target, thus allowing the anti‐inflammatory effects of CdtB to promote intestinal colonization.

The Relationship of Physical Activity to Cardiorespiration Endurance in Children Aged 10-12 Years [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Cardiorespiratory endurance is a measure of the functional ability of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen in the blood throughout the body. Physical activity affects cardiorespiratory endurance related to increased lung function by increasing forced ...

The C‐terminal truncated splicing variant of NK1R negatively modulates substance P‐stimulated NK1R signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The neurokinin 1 receptor exists as full‐length (NK1L) and C‐terminally truncated (NK1S) splice variants. We show that NK1S heterodimerizes with NK1L, impairing Gαq coupling and Ca2+ mobilization while enhancing β‐arrestin1 recruitment. NK1S suppresses substance P‐driven gene expression and cell migration, revealing NK1S as an endogenous biased ...

Effect of endurance training on serum Apelin levels, C-reactive protein and insulin resistance index in middle-aged sedentary men [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه ابن سینا, 2017
Background: Apelin is a novel adipokine that is closely related with insulin resistance. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of endurance training on Apelin, C-reactive protein (CRP) and insulin resistance index in middle-aged sedentary men ...

Impact of OM Chanting versus Diaphragmatic Breathing on Cardiorespiratory Endurance Level in Young Adults: A Prospective Interventional Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Introduction: Adulthood is a critical period during which modifiable behaviours influence long-term health outcomes. Physical inactivity contributes to poor cardiorespiratory endurance and increased risk of mental health disorders.

THE IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL TRAINING FOR DEVELOPING ENDURANCE IN ROWERS

open access: yes
This article presents the results of a study examining the impact of general physical training on endurance development in rowers. It was found that comprehensive physical training using a variety of techniques (including speed and strength exercises) is

Genetic dissection of human ABCE1 in yeast reveals separable requirements for ribosome recycling and suppression of aberrant reinitiation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human ABCE1 cannot functionally replace its yeast ortholog. Yeast–human chimera analysis identified NBD1 as a major interspecies barrier. Genetic screening yielded hABCE1 revertants that rescue yeast viability but fail to suppress aberrant translation reinitiation in the 3′ UTR.

A nationwide student survey on biochemistry learning resources in Italy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We conducted a survey among Italian university students to investigate their preferred study materials for biochemistry. We then analyzed the collected data to identify these materials. This information may be valuable to the Biochemistry educational community. The graphical abstract was created with Claude (Opus 5.5; Anthropic, 2026).

Hydrogel platforms for 3D cardiac tissue engineering and fibrotic disease modelling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hydrogel‐based cardiac tissue models are advancing our understanding of heart health and disease. By incorporating electrical conductivity, aligned structures, and tunable mechanical properties, these platforms better replicate the complex environment of native heart tissue.

Chronobiology of Cancer: How Aging Fuels Oncogenesis at the Molecular Level

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract illustrates the key biological pathways linking aging with cancer development and progression. In the upper left, cumulative exposure to ultraviolet radiation, toxins, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes DNA damage and genomic instability, whereas age‐related decline in repair mechanisms, such as ATM/ATR, BER, and NER ...
