Endurance physical activity, diet and fibrinolysis

Atherosclerosis, 1994
The impact of long-term, heavy exercise on recently established cardiovascular/thromboembolic risk factors of the fibrinolytic system, tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI-1) in relation to food composition was studied.

Time reallocation of physical behaviours induced by endurance exercise in physically active individuals

European Journal of Sport Science, 2023
ABSTRACTIncreasing moderate‐vigorous physical activity (MVPA) through exercise requires reallocating time from other physical behaviour(s). We aimed to determine the reallocations induced by endurance exercise in physically active individuals. We also searched for behavioural compensatory responses, and explored the effect of exercise on daily energy ...

Physical Activity, Endurance Exercise, and Excess—Can One Overdose?

Current Treatment Options in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2016
Although moderate levels of exercise reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in the general population, recent data have questioned whether higher doses of physical activity are associated with diminished health benefits and adverse outcomes. This review focuses on several issues at the center of this controversy including epidemiologic data ...

[Increasing physical endurance with salmeterol].

Pneumologie (Stuttgart, Germany), 1994
10 patients with mild to moderate chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were assessed by lung function tests at rest and spiroergometry before and 1 resp. 7 hours after inhalation of 50 micrograms salmeterol. The parameters changed as follows: Forced exspiratory volume in 1 second: +16% +/- 6% after 1 resp. +13% +/- 5% after 7 hours; airway resistance:

Novel useful sun strategy to improve physical endurance

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
We propose a "useful sun" strategy with application of a photoluminophore that absorbs a part of the UV component of the sunlight and converts it into the visible light. As a result, the “harmful” UV sun radiation becomes useful.

[Nutrition in long physical endurance events].

Praxis, 2001
In recent years, there was a trend towards longlasting endurance events. The longer the competitions last, the more important nutrition and fluid replacement will be before, during, and after a race, because an inadequate supply reduces performance.
