Physical modeling the formation of roof collapse zones in Vorkuta coal mines

open access: yesBulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration, 2020
Collapse of the roof during mining is a constant threat to the lives of miners and equipment performance. To predict it, different numerical and physical approaches are used.

Formation of cast structure in relation to temperature and time parameters of melting and crystallization [PDF]

open access: yesМеталознавство та обробка металів, 2019
The influence of the melt overheating temperature over the equilibrium liquidus and the cooling rate of it during crystallization, the effect of the temperature of the isothermal processing of the melt in the pre-crystallization period and in the ...

Affordance-Based Design of Physical Interfaces for Ubiquitous Environments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Physical interfaces have been proposed as a way to realize natural interactions with ubiquitous computing environments. The successful design of such interfaces requires design approaches that integrate aspects of our world which are usually treated ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Blind Separation of Skin Chromophores from Multispectral Dermatological Images

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background/Objectives: Based on Blind Source Separation and the use of multispectral imaging, the new approach we propose in this paper aims to improve the estimation of the concentrations of the main skin chromophores (melanin, oxyhemoglobin and ...

Analysis of equal channel angular extrusion by upper bound method and rigid blocks model [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2013
In present paper the Equal Channel Angular Extrusion (ECAE) through a rectangular die was firstly physically simulated using plasticine and then theoretically analyzed by upper bound method.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Diffusely scattered and transmitted elastic waves by random rough solid-solid interfaces using an elastodynamic Kirchhoff approximation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Elastic waves scattered by random rough interfaces separating two distinct media play an important role in modeling phonon scattering and impact upon thermal transport models, and are also integral to ultrasonic inspection.

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.
