Discordance Between Patient and Physician Global Assessments in Early Systemic Sclerosis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aims to identify factors associated with patient global assessment (PtGA) and physician global assessment (PhGA) and discordance between them in systemic sclerosis (SSc). Methods Data from adults with early SSc (<5 years) from the Collaborative National Quality and Efficacy Registry were included.

New phenomena in neutrino physics

open access: yes, 2009
In this thesis, we discuss two new concepts in neutrino physics: The neutrino Mossbauer effect and non-standard neutrino interactions. We show that neutrinos emitted and absorbed in recoil-free processes (Mossbauer neutrinos) can oscillate in spite of their near monochromaticity. We support this statement by quantum mechanical wave packet arguments and

A Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Block Diagram of the Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller. ABSTRACT This article introduces a discrete‐time robust adaptive one‐sample‐ahead preview super‐twisting sliding mode controller. A stability analysis of the controller by Lyapunov criteria is developed to demonstrate its robustness in handling both ...

Numerical Simulation of Pollutant Transport in Fractured Vuggy Porous Karstic Aquifers

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2011
This paper begins with presenting a mathematical model for contaminant transport in the fractured vuggy porous media of a species of contaminant (PCP). Two phases are numerically simulated for a process of contaminant and clean water infiltrated in the ...

On the phenomenological modelling of physical phenomena [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Estonian Academy of Sciences
Mathematical modelling of physical phenomena is based on the laws of physics, but for complicated processes, phenomenological models could enhance the descriptive and prescriptive power of the analysis.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

APPLICATIONS OF DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS AND SIMILARITY THEORY IN HYDRAULICS [PDF]

open access: yesAnalele Universităţii "Constantin Brâncuşi" din Târgu Jiu: Seria Inginerie, 2018
Technological process, however complex, can be broken down into a succession of distinct component processes, in which the input materials undergo changes in shape (mechanical processes), pressure, temperature, concentration, state of ...

Physical phenomena and the microgravity response [PDF]

open access: yes
The living biological cell is not a sack of Newtonian fluid containing systems of chemical reactions at equilibrium. It is a kinetically driven system, not a thermodynamically driven system.
