Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFs) Entangled Trusted Computing Base

2019 IEEE International Symposium on Smart Electronic Systems (iSES) (Formerly iNiS), 2019
The center-piece of this work is a software measurement physical unclonable function (PUF). It measures processor chip ALU silicon biometrics in a manner similar to all PUFs. Additionally, it composes the silicon measurement with the data-dependent delay of a particular program instruction in a way that is difficult to decompose through a mathematical ...

MVL‐PUFs: multiple‐valued logic physical unclonable functions

International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, 2016
SummaryPhysical unclonable functions (PUFs) are promising hardware security primitives suitable for protecting resource‐constrained devices. In this paper, we propose to use multiple‐valued logic (MVL) for implementing hardware‐efficient PUF integrated circuits.

Sensitized path PUF: A lightweight embedded physical unclonable function

Design, Automation & Test in Europe Conference & Exhibition (DATE), 2017, 2017
Physical unclonable functions (PUFs) can be used for a number of security applications, including secure on-chip generation of secret keys. We introduce an embedded PUF concept called sensitized path PUF (SP-PUF) that is based on extracting entropy out of inherent timing variability of modules already present in the circuit.

TI-PUF: Toward Side-Channel Resistant Physical Unclonable Functions

IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, 2020
One of the main motivations behind introducing PUFs was their ability to resist physical attacks. Among them, cloning was the major concern of related scientific literature. Several primitive PUF designs have been introduced to the community, and several machine learning attacks have been shown capable of modeling such constructions.

Physically Unclonable Functions (PUFs): A Systematic Literature Review

2019 Advances in Science and Engineering Technology International Conferences (ASET), 2019
The purpose of this paper is to give an absolute newcomer a kick start to the literature of Physically Unclonable Functions (PUFs) using as simple explanations as possible. In biometrics, every human has a fingerprint, the fingerprint of each individual person remains unique [1]; similarly, different instance of the same PUF design, fed with the same ...

Composite PUF: A new design paradigm for Physically Unclonable Functions on FPGA

2014 IEEE International Symposium on Hardware-Oriented Security and Trust (HOST), 2014
Physically Unclonable Function (PUF) designs proposed in the recent literature vary widely in diverse characteristics such as hardware resource requirement, reliability, entropy, and robustness against mathematical cloning. Most of the standalone PUF designs suffer from either poor performance profile or unacceptable resource-overhead.

Modeling attack security of physical unclonable functions based on arbiter PUFs

2022

Physical unclonable functions (PUFs)

2019
It has been the practice to store information under lock and key for safeguarding it. Even today, we use cryptographic primitives to store information securely under lock and key, encryption, and decryption. For the process of cryptography, keys are necessary for any operation.

Pseudo-LFSR PUF: A Compact, Efficient and Reliable Physical Unclonable Function

2011 International Conference on Reconfigurable Computing and FPGAs, 2011
A physical unclonable function (PUF) with a novel hardware architecture called Pseudo-LFSR PUF (PL-PUF) is developed. The structure of the PL-PUF is based on LFSR but it actually is large combinational logic. The long feedback signal of the PL-PUF effectively extracts the device variation, and consequently the output IDs generated in the different ...

The Bistable Ring PUF: A new architecture for strong Physical Unclonable Functions

2011 IEEE International Symposium on Hardware-Oriented Security and Trust, 2011
This paper introduces a new architecture for circuit-based Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFs) which we call the Bistable Ring PUF (BR-PUF). Based on experimental results obtained from FPGA-based implementations of the BR-PUF, the quality of this new design is discussed in different aspects, including uniqueness and reliability.
