Physics of Magnetospheric Variability
Space Science Reviews, 2010Many widely used methods for describing and understanding the magnetosphere are based on balance conditions for quasi-static equilibrium (this is particularly true of the classical theory of magnetosphere/ionosphere coupling, which in addition presupposes the equilibrium to be stable); they may therefore be of limited applicability for dealing with ...

Variability-aware physical design techniques
2010 11th Latin American Test Workshop, 2010Dealing with process and environmental variability became a great challenge for IC designers in the latest technology nodes. Digital circuits are designed in such a way that timing and power constraints are respected with minimum resource usage, to do that tight power and timing margins are desired.

Physical interpretation of variables on the dual lattice
Physical Review B, 1985We show explicitly that for the three-dimensional classical XY model, vortex-loop excitations on the dual lattice correspond to toroidal configurations of angles on the original lattice. This method could be useful in physically interpreting topological excitations uncovered by dual transforms in other models.

Physical Causes of Solar Variability – Discussion Session 1b
Space Science Reviews, 2000This report is divided into three parts: Section 1 gives a short introduction and a summary of the topics discussed. Section 2 is a position statement by J. Kuhn on the interpretation of the irradiance measurements, while Section 3 gives a position statement by M.

A Mathematical Type for Physical Variables
2008In identifying the requirements of a markup language for describing the mathematical semantics of physics-based models, we pose the question: "Is there a mathematical type for physical variables?" While this question has no a priori answer, since physics is fundamentally empirical, it appears that a large body of physics may be described with a single ...

Variability of the Physical Constants
1988The accepted numerical values of the physical constants have shown disturbing variations over the period during which presumably precise measurements have been made. The reasons for this have been varied, but in most instances the explanation has been experimental error or incomplete theoretical understanding of the underlying theory.

Grassmannian variables in physics
1988The five elements of this thesis are linked by the concept of Grassmannian variables. I begin with a brief introductory chapter discussing the general setting and then go on to deal with five topics each of which features anti-commuting co-ordinates in some guise.

Analysis of Physical Variables
2013Physical variables are the foundation of the mathematical formulation of physics because they arise from the existence of quantitative attributes of physical systems. To analyse the mathematical structure of physical theories, it is convenient to start with a detailed analysis of their physical variables.

Physical and chemical variability in tidal streams
2005This article focuses on the variability of major hydrologic parameters of tidal streams that occur on different temporal and spatial scales within an individual estuary. Rapid changes in water temperature and salinity take place on a timescale of

On Problems in Mathematical Physics with Variable Parameter
Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2017Summary: We consider evolution equations with variable parameters. We obtain new representations of solutions and indicate their applications to inverse problems in mathematical physics.
