Growth and yield response of cassava varieties (Manihot esculenta Crantz) to nitrogen fertilization across contrasting agroecology in Southern Ethiopia

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) plays a crucial role in mitigating food problems; however, its productivity is affected by low soil fertility, especially nitrogen deficiency, which is a major constraint to crop growth and yield. The study aimed to evaluate the effects of nitrogen fertilizer and cassava varieties on the agro‐morphological ...

Physico-chemical property prediction and environmental fate modelling of N-acylchalcogenourea derivatives

open access: yes, 2013
(Subcooled) vapour pressures, aqueous solubilities, Henry constants, log KOW and log KOC partition constants have been estimated for a set of N-acyl-chalcogenourea derivatives using several prediction methods (COSMO-RS in its COSMOtherm ...

Liposomal Delivery of L‐2‐Hydroxyglutarate for Targeting Epigenetic Dysregulation in Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 6, Issue 9, September 2026.
Osteoarthritis involves cartilage degeneration, inflammation, and epigenetic dysregulation. A liposomal formulation of the TET1 inhibitor L‐2‐hydroxyglutarate to overcome rapid joint clearance was developed. The formulation showed good physicochemical properties, reduced inflammatory and catabolic gene expression in chondrocytes, and alleviated ...

Marine Functional Connectivity Contributes to Ecosystem Functioning Across Multiple Scales

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 36, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT The passive transport and active movements of marine organisms between habitats and ecosystems, known as marine functional connectivity, play a critical role in the functioning of marine ecosystems. However, marine functional connectivity, particularly at large spatial scales, is often understudied, and consequently tends to be overlooked in ...

Balancing Molecular Information and Empirical Data in the Prediction of Physico-Chemical Properties [PDF]

open access: yes
Predicting the physico-chemical properties of pure substances and mixtures is a central task in thermodynamics. Established prediction methods range from fully physics-based ab-initio calculations, which are only feasible for very simple systems, over ...

A Thiosemicarbazone Schiff Base and Its Titanium(IV) Complexes: Spectral Analysis, DFT Studies, and Biological Evaluation

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
DFT computations are used to analyze the electronic structure, stability, and reactivity profiles of a new Schiff base ligand and its Ti(IV) complexes and are characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and mass spectrometry and screened for antimicrobial activities against E. coli, S. aureus, ESBL, MRSA, Mtb, A.

Advancing Symbiodiniaceae Functional Ecology Through a Trait‐Based Framework

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
Symbiodiniaceae dinoflagellates are central to coral reef functioning, supporting primary production, nutrient cycling, calcification, and influencing coral thermal tolerance through intracellular symbiosis. Despite their ecological importance, these symbionts have not yet been incorporated into a formal functional ecology framework due to challenges ...

Seasonal Effect of a Small Hydropower Plant on Benthic Biofilm Microbial Community Structure and Predicted Functional Potential

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
Biofilm microbial composition varies significantly; diversity is higher in spring and autumn. The dewatered reach shows the broadest niche and dominant stochastic assembly. Seasonal assembly shift: deterministic in summer, stochastic in winter. Nutrient cycling genes vary more among sites than seasons under SHP influence.
