Optimizing the configuration of plasma radiation detectors in the presence of uncertain instrument response and inadequate physics

Journal of Plasma Physics, 2023
We present a general method for optimizing the configuration of an experimental diagnostic to minimize uncertainty and bias in inferred quantities from experimental data. The method relies on Bayesian inference to sample the posterior using a physical model of the experiment and instrument.

Upgrade of detectors of neutron instruments at Neutron Physics Laboratory in Řež

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2017
Abstract Three neutron instruments at the Neutron Physics Laboratory (NPL) in Řež near Prague — small-angle scattering (SANS) MAUD, strain scanner SPN-100 and strain diffractometer TKSN-400 — have been modernized recently with new 2D position-sensitive detectors (PSDs) from JINR, Dubna.

Optimizing FPGA-based Sparse Coding for Real-time Processing in X-ray Instrumentation

2023 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium, Medical Imaging Conference and International Symposium on Room-Temperature Semiconductor Detectors (NSS MIC RTSD), 2023
As detectors improve, large physics experiments generate more data. However, real-time raw data processing near the sensors can be challenging due to the high data velocity and the resource-constrained location.

SU-C-116-03: Comparisons and Limitations of Physics Instrumentation in Mammography.

Medical Physics (Lancaster), 2013
PURPOSE To evaluate discrepancies in measurements for two major vendors of mammography equipment with a few models of physics instruments, and to make known potential errors in best use of these instruments for ACR and MQSA/FDA documentation.

Gaseous detectors for particle physics: A still blooming source of new instruments

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, 1983
Abstract The progress in gaseous detectors permits the matching of some of the needs created by progress in high-energy physics. The multistep structures, which include amplification between parallel grids, lead to improvements on Time Projection Chambers and Cherenkov ring imaging for high multiplicities.
