Laser and Optical Physics

1992
Abstract : The following problems have been studied (1) the use of light scattering techniques to make quasi-binary decisions about small systems in real time (2) tunneling through barrier between quantum wells (3) diffraction feedback lasers which involves the interaction of light with micro systems, including the use of spontaneous emission as a ...

Physical Optics, Wave Optics, and Fourier Optics

1991
When any of the dimensions or sizes of the components in an optical system is on the order of wavelength, then the methods discussed under geometrical optics do not give the proper solution to the problem. For this case, we must start from Maxwell’s equations, and derive the wave equation from which the proper solution to this problem can be obtained.
