Re‐Purposing Sapropterin (Kuvan) for ACTA2‐Related Multisystemic Smooth Muscle Dysfunction Syndrome: A Translational Mechanistic and First‐In‐Human Therapeutic Report

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Multisystemic smooth muscle dysfunction syndrome (MSMDS) is an ultra‐rare, ACTA2‐related disorder characterized by severe cerebrovascular disease, aortic aneurysms, and smooth muscle dysfunction. Using molecular dynamics simulations and in silico drug screening, we identified that sapropterin dihydrochloride (Kuvan) is a candidate capable of ...

Impact of preceding acetylcholine provocation testing on following coronary physiological assessment during an interventional diagnostic procedure.

Journal of Cardiology, 2023
BACKGROUND Intracoronary acetylcholine (ACh) provocation test and coronary physiological assessment are useful interventional diagnostic procedures for evaluating ischemia with no obstructive coronary arteries (INOCA). However, the appropriate sequential

Impact of post physiological assessment after treatment for de novo coronary lesions using drug-coated balloons.

International Journal of Cardiology, 2022
BACKGROUND Acute physiological changes after balloon angioplasty are very important because of acute recoil and dissection. However, serial physiological assessments after drug-coated balloons (DCB) have not been investigated.

Physiological assessment after percutaneous coronary intervention: the hard truth.

Panminerva Medica (Testo stampato), 2021
Physiologically guided revascularization, using Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) or instantaneous wave free ratio (iFR) has been demonstrated to be associated with better long-term outcomes compared to an angiographically-guided strategy, mainly avoiding ...

Measuring soundscape quality of urban environments using physiological indicators: Construction of physiological assessment dimensions and comparison with subjective dimensions

Building and Environment
Residents and designers typically pursue healthy urban acoustic environments. The soundscape community has established internationally recommended standards for subjective questionnaires to evaluate soundscape quality; however, much work is still needed ...

Physiologic Assessment of Arytenoid Adduction

Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1992
Arytenoid adduction as described by Isshiki is a surgical technique used to improve vocal quality by adducting the arytenoid cartilage of a paralyzed vocal fold, medializing the fold, and closing the posterior glottic aperture. Surgical results of this operation were evaluated by preoperative and postoperative voice recordings, laryngoscopy, and ...

Assessment of physiological demand in kitesurfing

European Journal of Applied Physiology, 2008
To evaluate the physiological demands of kitesurfing, ten elite subjects performed an incremental running test on a 400-m track and a 30-min on-water crossing trial during a light crosswind (LW, 12-15 knots). Oxygen uptake (V(O)(2)) was estimated from the heart rate (HR) recorded during the crossing trial using the individual HR-V(O)(2) relationship ...

A physiological assessment of the rolling crutch

Ergonomics, 1983
The efficiency of the rolling crutch was compared with the conventional axillary crutch, using 7 male and 13 female subjects. Oxygen uptake was measured, using a portable oxygen meter (Oxylog). The rolling crutch reduced the height of vertical displacement of the subjects and therefore reduced energy requirements by significant amounts.
