Physiological consequences of intermittent exercise during compensable and uncompensable heat stress

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1991
Time-weighted averaging is a traditional method used in heat stress analyses to approximate, in terms of a single continuous level of heat production, the rate of heat production from complex intermittent exercise patterns. Physiological responses during intermittent and continuous exercise were studied in four subjects exposed to heat stress in which

An impedance control strategy for a hand-held instrument to compensate for physiological motion

2012 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2012
Current trends in robotic cardiac surgery presage for allowing physiological motion compensation in beating-heart surgery. However, interacting with fast moving soft organs by means of stiff instruments/robots is challenging. This paper concerns comanipulation with a hand-held instrument, the goal being to allow the surgeon to perform low frequency ...

Physiological tremor sensing using only accelerometers for real-time compensation

2008 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics, 2009
A hand-held tremor compensation instrument, Micron, has been under research recently. The sensing part of the instrument comprises a magnetometer and accelerometers. The use of the magnetometer is to provide accurate instrument orientation information.

[Compensating presbyopia: a new physiological progressive lens (author's transl)].

Journal francais d'ophtalmologie, 1982
After discussing the functional disadvantages arising after correction of presbyopia with uni--or multifocal lenses, the authors describe the optical and physiological advantages of a lens with progressively increasing power. The principal qualities of these physiologically progressive lenses are studies, and the results of a preliminary survey ...
