Informativeness of sleep cycle features in Bayesian assessment of newborn electroencephalographic maturation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Clinical experts assess the newborn brain development by analyzing and interpreting maturity-related features in sleep EEGs. Typically, these features widely vary during the sleep hours, and their informativeness can be different in different sleep ...

[Physiology of pubertal maturation].

open access: yesLa Pediatria medica e chirurgica : Medical and surgical pediatrics, 1993
Most important features of puberty are described. The puberty is the age of development of sexual characters. In females it appears between 10 and 15 years +/- 1 year whereas in males signs of puberty are visible between 11 and 15 years. In our country menarche appears at the mean age of 12 years and 2 months +/- 1 year and 2 months. Precocious puberty

Naked cuticle is essential for Drosophila wing development beyond Wingless signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Naked cuticle (Nkd), a Wnt signaling inhibitor, assumes extensive roles in Drosophila wing development. Overexpressing Nkd causes smaller, crumpled wings, while also perturbing multiple signaling pathways and developmental genes. A specific region (R1S) is critical for Nkd's function as a signaling integrator, offering new insights for studying its ...

Antibiofilm activity of a chionodracine‐derived peptide by NMR‐based metabolomics of cell‐free supernatant of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...

TMC4 localizes to multiple taste cell types in the mouse taste papillae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Transmembrane channel‐like 4 (TMC4), a voltage‐dependent chloride channel, plays a critical role in amiloride‐insensitive salty taste transduction. TMC4 is broadly expressed in all mature taste cell types, suggesting a possible involvement of multiple cell types in this pathway.

Simulating the Probability of Grain Sorghum Maturity before the First Frost in Northeastern Colorado

open access: yesAgronomy, 2016
Expanding grain sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] production northward from southeastern Colorado is thought to be limited by shorter growing seasons due to lower temperatures and earlier frost dates. This study used a simulation model for predicting

Physiological maturity of pitaya seeds

open access: yes, 2018
