Physiological Phenomena and Biosignals

2011
Since a biosignal can be defined as a description of a physiological phenomenon (Sect. 1), it is obvious that biosignal parameters reflect physiological parameters. For proper diagnostic or therapeutic interpretation of the derived biosignal’s parameters (or results of the biomedical signal analysis), an adequate understanding of their physiological ...

Physiological Relevance of Scaling of Heart Phenomena

2002
Most methods used to analyze experimental data are based on the assumption that the data is from a Gaussian distribution and uncorrected. We describe methods to analyze data from scaling phenomena that do not have a Gaussian distribution [8.1–8.3] or involve long-range correlations [8.4–8.6]. We then show how those scaling methods have proved useful in

Raster-scan method for observing physiological entrainment phenomena

Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1982
A simple raster-scan display, using a small interactive microcomputer with graphics capability, is described and gives visual indication of various entrainment-type phenomena. In particular, almostentrainment and transient behaviour are easily detectable.

Physiology, Pharmacology and Development of Epileptogenic Phenomena

1991
This text aims to throw new light on the fundamental mechanisms of epilepsies and provides a representative cross-section of contributions from experimental groups active in basic research. The factors involved in the generation of epileptic activity are described first, followed by an examination of the developmental aspects of epileptogenesis and the

Relating Physiological, Physical, and Political Phenomena

International Political Science Review, 1987
We cannot easily avoid structuring our explanations of self and society as well as of in-groups and out-groups without recourse to the center-periphery archetype. The capital city of one's country is typically located in the center of Mercator maps, and subjects who locate the self at the center of a symbolic space give a more rapid interpretation of ...
