Alpha rhythms as physiological and abnormal phenomena
There are three physiological alpha rhythms in mature healthy humans: (a) the classical posterior alpha; (b) the Rolandic mu rhythm and (c) the midtemporal 'third rhythm'. The classical posterior alpha rhythm develops out of a 4/s rhythm appearing at age 4 months and gradually reaches the alpha frequency band around age 3 years.

Physiological Phenomena and Biosignals
2011Since a biosignal can be defined as a description of a physiological phenomenon (Sect. 1), it is obvious that biosignal parameters reflect physiological parameters. For proper diagnostic or therapeutic interpretation of the derived biosignal’s parameters (or results of the biomedical signal analysis), an adequate understanding of their physiological ...

Brain hyperthermia as physiological and pathological phenomena
Brain Research Reviews, 2005Although brain metabolism consumes high amounts of energy and is accompanied by intense heat production, brain temperature is usually considered a stable, tightly "regulated" homeostatic parameter. Current research, however, revealed relatively large and rapid brain temperature fluctuations (3-4 degrees C) in animals during various normal ...

Using Hypnotic Phenomena for Physiological Change
American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis, 1986Abstract The hypnotic phenomena of relaxation, anesthesia, temperature change, catalepsy are discussed, particularly as they relate to patient management and treatment. The author believes that the realization of body control by the patient is the central factor of successful treatment.
