Mapping physiological traits in barley

New Phytologist, 1997
summaryAmplified fragment length polymorphisms (AFLPs) offer a reproducible, multiplex DNA assay by which to genotype mapping populations. We have evaluated physiological traits in barley seedlings grown in an hydroponic system and given a salt treatment. Multiple regression was used to show associations between AFLPs and quantitative traits.

Reflex seizures, traits, and epilepsies: from physiology to pathology

The Lancet Neurology, 2016
Epileptic seizures are generally unpredictable and arise spontaneously. Patients often report non-specific triggers such as stress or sleep deprivation, but only rarely do seizures occur as a reflex event, in which they are objectively and consistently modulated, precipitated, or inhibited by external sensory stimuli or specific cognitive processes ...

Gene Expression and Physiological traits in Mice

2023
Abstract Background Gene expression regulates several complex traits observed. In this study, datasets comprising of transcriptome information and clinical traits regarding fat composition and vitals were analyzed via several statistical methods in order to find relations between genes and clinical ...

Physiological and Lifestyle Traits of Metabolic Dysfunction in the Absence of Obesity

Current Diabetes Reports, 2020
Individuals with metabolically unhealthy normal weight (MUNW) have an adverse cardiometabolic risk factor profile in the absence of excess body weight, and increased risk for diabetes and heart disease. We critically review some physiological traits and lifestyle characteristics of the MUNW phenotype. The prevalence of MUNW varies considerably around ...

Molecular Markers of Physiological Traits and Their Applications

2015
Compared with agronomic and yield traits, there are few researches on QTL mapping of physiological traits and molecular markers’ application. However, QTL mapping of physiological traits is becoming more and more in recent 10 years because physiological traits play an important role for crop growth and development.

Personality and Physiological Traits in Middle-Aged Runners and Joggers

Journal of Gerontology, 1977
A series of personality and physiological tests and measurements were made in 48 healthy male runners and joggers 40-59 years of age (x = 47.3 yrs.). The Cattell 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire showed that the subjects were significantly more intelligent, imaginative, reserved, self-sufficient, sober, shy, and forthright than the general population.

Beyond Our Means: Patterns of Variability of Physiological Traits

International Journal of Health Services, 1990
Epidemiologists usually employ measures of variability of physiological traits such as blood pressure and cholesterol only to determine confidence intervals or statistical significance. For evolutionary biologists population variability per se has proven of interest.

Multi-trait and multi-environment QTL analyses of yield and a set of physiological traits in pepper

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2013
A mixed model framework was defined for QTL analysis of multiple traits across multiple environments for a RIL population in pepper. Detection power for QTLs increased considerably and detailed study of QTL by environment interactions and pleiotropy was facilitated.
