Saponins from the roots of Chenopodium bonus-henricus L. with neuroprotective and anti-α-glucosidase activities [PDF]

open access: yesPharmacia, 2021
Six saponins of phytolaccagenin, bayogenin, medicagenic acid, 2β-hydroxygypsogenin, and 2β-hydroxyoleanoic acid from the roots of Chenopodium bonus-henricus L. were investigated for neuroprotective and anti-α-glucosidase activities.

Nectar robbing by bees affects the reproductive fitness of the distylous plant Tirpitzia sinensis (Linaceae). [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol, 2023
Nectar robbing could directly and indirectly decrease the female fitness of Tirpitzia sinensis, and different morphs have evolved different defense mechanisms in response to nectar robbing pressure. Abstract Nectar robbing can affect plant reproductive success directly by influencing female and male fitness, and indirectly by affecting pollinator ...

Chemical Composition of Cynanchum auriculatum Royle Ex Wight and Its Potential Role in Ameliorating Colitis. [PDF]

open access: yesFood Sci Nutr
In this study, the water extract of Cynanchum auriculatum Royle ex Wight root (CW) was prepared and its chemical composition was characterized using UPLC‐Q‐TOF‐MS. CW significantly alleviated DSS‐induced colitis in mice, as demonstrated by increased colon length, reduced disease activity index scores, and decreased histological damage in colon tissues.

Inhibitory effect of esculentoside A on prostaglandin E(2) production from murine peritoneal macrophages and rabbit synovial cells in vitro. [PDF]

open access: yesMediators Inflamm, 1997
Esculentoside A (EsA) is a saponin isolated from the roots of Phytolacca esculenta. Previous experiments have shown that it has strong antiinflammatory effects. To investigate the mechanism of anti‐inflammatory effects of esculentoside A (EsA),[3H] arachidonic acid (AA) prelabelled murine macrophage and radioimmunoassay were used to test the effect of ...

Inhibitory effect of esculentoside A on tumour necrosis factor alpha production by human monocytes. [PDF]

open access: yesMediators Inflamm, 1996
Esculentoside A (EsA) is a saponin isolated from the roots of Phytolacca esculenta. Previous experiments have shown that it has strong anti‐inflammatory effects. Tumour necrosis factor (TNF) is a very important inflammatory mediator. It is known that there are two types of TNF—TNFα is from macrophages/monocytes and TNFβ is from activated lymphocytes ...

Effects of esculentoside A on turnour necrosis factor production by mice peritoneal macrophages. [PDF]

open access: yesMediators Inflamm, 1992
Esculentoside A (EsA) is a saponin isolated from the roots of Phytolacca esculenta. Previous experiments showed that it had strong anti‐inflammatory effects. Tumour necrosis factor (TNF) is an important inflammatory mediator. In order to study the mechanism of the anti‐inflammatory effect of EsA, it was determined whether TNF production from ...
