Dynamics of phytoplankton–zooplankton systems with toxin producing phytoplankton

Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2014
We propose periodic systems of phytoplankton-zooplankton interactions with toxin producing phytoplankton to study the effects of TPP upon extinction and persistence of the populations. Using the concept of uniform persistence, it is proved that the two populations can coexist for certain parameter regimes.

Cadmium in Marine Phytoplankton

2012
The distribution of cadmium in the ocean is very similar to that of major nutrients suggesting that it may be taken up by marine phytoplankton at the surface and remineralized at depth. This interpretation is supported by recent data on Cd isotope distribution showing an increase in the (112)Cd/(110)Cd ratio in Cd-depleted surface water.

Calefaction and Phytoplankton

BioScience, 1971
for a continuous performance of phytoplanktonic organisms. Seasonal, diurnal, and geographical variations in temperature and the occurrence of organisms under different, even extreme, conditions indicate that life, in general, is possible in a very wide temperature range.

Production Biology of Phytoplankton

1997
Abstract : To continue to critically and creatively review knowledge about interactions between bulk marine phytoplankton and zooplankton with the hydrographic and chemical environment, as well as the feedback from the biological processes to the abiotic environment. The emphasis is on regional oceanography.

Phytoplankton and Periphyton

1997
Most studies of Amazonian algae concentrate on phytoplankton. Taxonomy and aspects of community structure are discussed by Gronblad (1945); Forster (1969, 1974); Martins (1980); Scott et al. (1965); Uherkovich (1981); Uherkovich and Schmidt (1974); Uherkovich and Rai (1979); Thomasson (1971), and many others.

Cytometry of Freshwater Phytoplankton

2004
Publisher Summary The goals of flow cytometry (FCM) are the determination and characterization of phytoplankton abundance, composition, and physiological features. In freshwater ecosystems used for drinking-water supply, FCM offers the capability of assessing the risk of toxic algae.

Phytoplankton Crop

1980
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses phytoplankton crop. The crop is the biomass of phytoplankton and can be measured in various ways, for example, as the weight of matter per unit volume or under a unit of surface throughout the length of the euphotic column.

Phytoplankton

2009
Studies on the biodiversity of marine phytoplankton in Costa Rican coasts are sparse and mostly confined to the Pacific coast. More specifically 10 the Golfo de Nicoya. New records presented here come from the three most important embayments in the Pacific coast.
