Phytotoxic property of the invasive plant Tithonia diversifolia and a phytotoxic substance [PDF]

open access: yesActa Biologica Hungarica, 2017
Tithonia diversifolia (Hermsl.) A. Gray is a perennial invasive plant and spreads quickly in the invasive areas. The extracts of T. diversifolia were found to be toxic to several crop plant species such as rice, maize, sorghum, lettuce and cowpea, and several putative allelopathic substances were identified.

Effectiveness of integrated shrub management and restoration techniques for rehabilitating shrub‐encroached rangelands of South Africa

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Herbaceous plant recovery following shrub clearing and reseeding in the rangelands of Peddie, Eastern Cape of South Africa. CTL, control; CO, cutting only; CR, cutting and reseeding; UPO, uprooting only; UPR, uprooting and reseeding. Phytotoxicity of hydrocarbons

open access: yesHilgardia, 1954
Benzene, cyclohexene, cyclohexane, n-hexane, and hexene-1 were applied to young carrot and barley plants as vapors diluted with air, and to Anacharis shoots and root and leaf segments of barley and carrot in aqueous solutions. The tetrazolium reaction and plasmolysis were employed as vitality criteria in the aqueous-solution ...

Phytotoxicity and Adsorption of Chlorsulfuron as Affected by Soil Properties

open access: yes, 1985
The phytotoxicity of chlorsulfuron {2-chloro-N-[[(4-methoxy-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)amino]carbonyl] benzenesulfonamide} was compared in six soils, and the relationship of activity to soil physical and chemical properties was evaluated.

Liebig Review: Essential and Beneficial Elements in the Regulation of Cadmium Uptake and Tolerance in Crop Plants

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cadmium (Cd2+) contamination in agricultural soils has been reported to pose risks to crop productivity, food safety, and human health. This review synthesizes current knowledge on the mechanisms by which essential (S, Zn, Fe, Mg, K, Ca) and beneficial (Si, Se, rare earth elements) elements mitigate Cd2+ toxicity in plants.

Effect of bio‐fertilization and edapho‐climatic conditions on chickpea nodulation, grain yields, and seed protein in a Mediterranean context: a meta‐analysis approach

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Chickpeas (Cicer arietinum L.) serve as a protein‐rich staple, particularly in Mediterranean countries, where they are often grown in marginal and water‐stressed areas. This meta‐analysis synthesized evidence from peer‐reviewed publications across Mediterranean countries to assess how chickpea rhizobial inoculation influences chickpea ...

Phytotoxicity of BPC194 and a set of cyclolipopeptides.

open access: yes, 2016
Phytotoxicity was determined at 50, 100, 150, and 250 μM, as the size of the lesions in infiltrated tobacco leaves. Phytotoxicity was compared to melittin. Vertical bars within each column indicate confidence interval at the mean.

Interactive effects of microplastics and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on grassland communities

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Grassland plant communities contribute significantly to global biodiversity but face numerous man‐made pressures which may interfere with their ecological functions. One such pressure receiving increasing scientific, political, and public attention is microplastic pollution.

Acute toxicity of water and aqueous extract of soils from Champotón river in Lactuca sativa L.

open access: yesToxicology Reports, 2018
The seeds germination, stem and root elongation of water lettuces (Lactuca sativa L) were used to evaluate the phytotoxicity of water and soil of Champotón River, Campeche, Mexico. water and soil sample were collected from two sampling sites.
