Natural Forest Clearings Enable the Persistence of Stable Spotted Hyena Populations in Congo Basin Rainforests

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 5, September 2025.
Spotted hyenas (Crocuta crocuta) are known to range across broad savanna regions of sub‐Saharan Africa, but there is very limited understanding of how and to what extent they use lowland rainforest habitats. We use camera trap data and GPS telemetry to show that bais, natural rainforest clearings, can support hyenas living exclusively in the rainforest—

Dung beetles, but not rodents, contribute to brown bear feces removal, disaggregation, and secondary seed dispersal

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract Seed dispersal by endozoochory is essential to plant dynamics, but once released in the feces, the seeds face a hostile environment that is not always favorable to germination. Indeed, feces may contain inhibitors, have high seed density, and be densely structured.

Complex population genetic structure of the bark beetle predator Thanasimus formicarius (L.) (Coleoptera: Cleridae) across its European range

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 27, Issue 3, Page 437-451, August 2025.
Abstract Thanasimus formicarius (L.) (Coleoptera: Cleridae) is an important bark beetle predator and can reduce bark beetle population densities of some of the most severe forest pests in Europe. We analysed the population genetics and phylogeography of T.

Polyphonie narrative et heuristique dans L’Erreur de Cecil Saint‐Laurent

open access: yesOrbis Litterarum, Volume 80, Issue 3, Page 239-268, June 2025.

Population dynamics and morphometrics of Nile monitors along a gradient of urbanization in KwaZulu‐Natal, South Africa

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, Volume 326, Issue 1, Page 23-36, May 2025.
We used mark‐resight and baited camera traps to compare population density and demographics of Nile monitors (Varanus niloticus) on a gradient of land use, namely a golf course, a farm and a nature reserve in KwaZulu‐Natal, South Africa, during 2022–2023. We also collected detailed morphometrics on 112 Nile monitors throughout KwaZulu‐Natal.

L’Altérité subjective d’Emmanuel Bove – le Cas du Piège [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
La réception de l'oeuvre d'Emmanuel Bove, celle des années vingt et trente comme celle de la réédition dans les années quatre-vingt, méconnaît foncièrement la modernité esthétique de l'écriture des romans. L'analyse microscopique que je propose du roman

Spotted! Remote camera traps used in a novel design reveal a perilous situation for the Critically Endangered Northwest African cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus hecki) in a conflict‐affected protected area in Benin

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 6, Issue 2, April–June 2025.
This first long‐term study of the Critically Endangered Northwest African cheetah in Benin highlights a very low density. The Pendjari National Park is likely to be a core area for cheetah in the WAP (W‐Arly‐Pendjari) Complex. Urgent action is needed to protect this iconic cat.

Opinion and report of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) relating to an analysis of the health risks associated with exposure to caterpillars with stinging hairs and the development of management recommendations

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2025.
Abstract Several species of Lepidoptera with caterpillars bearing urticating hairs are increasing their range in metropolitan France from year to year, such as the pine processionary (Thaumetopoea pityocampa Denis et Schiffermüller 1775) whose presence was historically limited to the south of France, and which is gradually being observed in the north ...
