Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Marine predator algorithm based PD‐(1+PI) controller for frequency regulation in multi‐microgrid system

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, 2022
Renewable generation uncertainty, dynamic load change, and system parameter variation play a significant role in the performance degradation of non‐linear multi‐microgrid (MMG) systems.

Effects of fractional-order PI controller on delay margin in single-area delayed load frequency control systems

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2018
This study aims to determine the improvement effect on the delay margin if fractional-order proportional integral (PI) controller is used in the control of a single-area delayed load frequency control (LFC) system.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Embedded Network Test-Bed for Validating Real-Time Control Algorithms to Ensure Optimal Time Domain Performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The paper presents a Stateflow based network test-bed to validate real-time optimal control algorithms. Genetic Algorithm (GA) based time domain performance index minimization is attempted for tuning of PI controller to handle a balanced lag and delay ...

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

Nonlinear Control of pH System for Change Over Titration Curve [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Wiener model based nonlinear controller for a pH process efficiently tackles the variations in gain. However, the controller performance deteriorates for significant change over titration curve (i.e.

Modeling and Control of Multivariable Distillation Column Using Model Predictive Control Using Unisim [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Distillation columns are widely used in chemical industry as unit operation and required advance process control because it has multi input multi output (MIMO) or multi-variable system, which is hard to be controlled.

The controllable pi - SQUID

open access: yes, 2001
We have fabricated and studied a new kind of DC SQUID in which the magnitude and sign of the critical current of the individual Josephson junctions can be controlled by additional voltage probes connected to the junctions. We show that the amplitude of the voltage oscillations of the SQUID as a function of the applied magnetic field can be tuned and ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
