Effect of Flow Splitters on Energy Loss in C-Type Piano Key Weirs
Piano key weirs (PKWs) are a new type of labyrinth weirs. They have a longer crest length within a limited width and, unlike linear weirs, ultimately have a higher discharge coefficient. The higher energy loss in PKWs can reduce scour.

Finding Potential of Increase in Water Level at Piano Key Weirs using Physical models [PDF]
The Parapet Walls were installed on the top of PKW crest. There slopes were investigated with the 3.0 co-flow angles 3. 5.5 and 8 Degrees (positive slops) and counter-flow slopes (negative slopes). The Parapet Wall heights were 2.5, 4.5 and 6.5 cm on the

Experimental Investigation of Local Scour Downstream of a Type B Piano Key Weir on Sand and Gravel Bed Materials [PDF]
Piano key weirs are a new form of labyrinth weirs and exhibit nonlinear characteristics. Due to their high efficiency regarding flow capacity, it is crucial to investigate local scour and identify solutions to mitigate it.

Prediction of the discharge capacity of piano key weirs using artificial neural networks
The discharge capacity of the piano key weir (PKW) is an important flow feature which ultimately decides the design of PKWs. In the present research work, the different architecture of artificial neural networks (ANNs) was employed to predict the ...

Laboratory and Numerical Study of Hydraulic Loss and Discharge Coefficient in Rectangular Labyrinth and Piano Key Weirs [PDF]
the impact of hydraulic loss on the performance of weirs should not be overlooked. In this study, a laboratory flume measuring 8 meters in length, 0.6 meters in width, and 0.6 meters in height was used to investigate the hydraulic loss of the weirs and ...

Piano Key Weir Head Discharge Relationships
A piano key (PK) weir is a type of nonlinear (labyrinth-type) weir developed specifically for free-surface flow control structures with relatively small spillway footprints. Currently, no generally accepted standard PK weir design procedure is available.
